Surgery not performed?

Recommended Posts

Okay so I am starting to believe that my surgery was not performed. Couple things 1. I am not having any pain or discomfort when I eat 2. I can eat a cup of food with no problem 3. I can take in as much liquid as I want. Anyone else feel like I may not have gotten what I asked for. I was supposed to be sleeved by Dr. Averbach this past Tuesday the 11th. I think something fishy is going on.

Wow. That does sound bizarre. I am assuming you have scars, right? Did you check with the surgeon's office? Your surgeon was obviously not alone in the operating room. If you don't get answers from his/her office, I would contact the hospital administration for a review of the surgery. BTW, you said you can eat a cup of food easily. Can you eat more than that? Any other symptoms of recent surgery--diarrhea, and/or Constipation, lack of appetite, etc.?

Yep I have scars and a drain and everything. But I don't feel like any part of my stomach was removed. When I say a cup it's all liquids no solids yet. This just feels like he went through the motions but didn't actually make the pouch smaller.

i wouldn't be worried about it, You shouldn't really be feeling full at this point it will be a different story in about 3 weeks,

Many people don't feel full on liquids. Nerves were cut in your stomach so you may not be feeling much of anything, plus you won't have much restriction on liquids unless your stomach swells really tightly inward due to the trauma and keeps liquids from exiting quickly. For many people, their stomach doesn't do this major swelling -- probably a combination of skillful surgery work and your body reacting and healing well. Don't worry about feeling restriction until you get past liquids and purees and on to more solid foods. In the meantime, don't try to test your restriction by eating or drinking more than your plan allows. I would bet everything is just as it should be. :)

Don't worry. I thought that too when I had mine done. I could easily drink my cup of liquids and not feel full. All that changed when I started on the mushy food stage. Now I know when I am full!! I cant take another bite! It will all be better, and the weight will come off! Good Luck and keep us posted on how your doing.

I can drink plenty of liquids with no problem. When I added egg salad, I could only eat like 5 small bites.

you may also have a bigger sleeve coming out due to a bigger stomach to begin with.

not pushing/testing by going over what your told to consume is the right thing to do the bigger space means you can hold the amount just fine.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
