2 days... trying to stay positive...advice wanted

Recommended Posts

Ok, so 2 weeks post op... week one down 5 pounds, week 2... less than a half at -0.4 pound... I am upping my exercise, going easy for now as I'm still healing... following the couch to k program and walking the dogs everyday for 30-45 minutes, I've been doing well with fluids and pretty sure my calories have been between 400-700 every day between my Protein Shake and one or 2 servings of creamed Soup.

Daily I get:

Protein: min 75 grams

Water/fluids: min 70 ounces

Exercise: 30 min to 1 hour of cardio per day

I'm pretty sure, in a week or 2, I'm just gonna see a big drop. I just think my hormones are wacked (I think I've been pms'ing since around time of surgery and my body just is having a hard time adjusting so Water retention may be playing a role.)

Open to any other suggestions or just plain old encouragement especially from any PCOSers out there that know the weight loss resistance struggles and hormone struggles... but I'll take encouragement of any kind.

Just feel like I'm doing everything and wanting to stay positive despite the quick stall on the front end of this journey. Seems like most folks drop so much in the first month/s. I know it will work even if it takes me longer... just looking for a pick me up :) from others who have been here before me!

Thanks all!

I keep reading this over and over... stay off the scale. Bodies lose at different rates. Have you measured yourself?

The weight does not fall off fast, no matter what you think. It has been coming off very slowly for 5 months here. The scale stays the same most of the time but my clothes fit different. My cure was weighing about every 2 weeks and not worrying if the scale does not move. Voila! 50 pounds down! Relax is my advice. Best of luck!

I feel the same as Tamosy 3 weeks post op and the scale has been reading the same for almost 2 weeks 12 lbs weight loss. STUCK! Eating correct amt of Protein and intake of Water with exercise. Trying not to get disgusted but somedays it's hard. Any suggestion....

Linda is right. I was stressing out about the weight loss. I needed to let my body adjust (i'm only now into week 5) and stress was leading to me holding on to more weight. Stress is not our friend...nor is the scale.

Also, make sure you are getting plenty of sleep!

I have read here a lot that when you are not losing weight you are losing inches, maybe that is what is happening? It sounds like you are doing all the right things, keep it up!

Considering your height I would except a slower weight loss then most. Just stay positive and dont compare your progress to what others are doing.

Definitely when the scale didn't move (like the last 3 weeks), I could still tell a difference in my clothes.

I went completely crazy during my first stall it lasted about 3 whole weeks...it finally ended super bowl.l Sunday and I'm down 12 pounds since..so..try not to freak out or doubt yourself you will loose weight..I was at a loss for what to do..I'm not sure if there is anything you can do to break your stall...but the second I stopped stressing about it and went to applebees and indulged slightly..(I didn't over eat but I did have some spinich artichoke dip with my weight watchers salmon) the weight started coming off again ..imagine that!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
