Brand new start wuth my sleeve

Recommended Posts

I'm on day two I had surgery at 8am on valentines day. It's now almost 6pm the day after. I'm still in hospital and I'm a little afraid to go home tomorrow. I have had really severe pain it gets worse through the night. I'm doing the things my doctor tells me but I can't hardly move. The wind pain in my chest and shoulders is a whole other ball game to. If I lie down I can't breathe so I try to walk around as I'm told but then the pain in my side worsens. It's very much a vicious circle.

I'm not regretting it, in fact I can't wait to get over this part and start to walk out and feel better.

Did anyone else have a really hard time post opp. Please tell me it's not just me.

Xx

I'm sorry to hear you are in pain Katie. I'm pre so I can't offer you advice from experience. However, I would recommend you push yourself to walk to loosen your body aches. I'll say a prayer for you. Keep the faith!

Hey Katie. I am 5 days post-op and I am starting to feel ok again, although I am still sore. Just like you I was afraid to go home, but overall it wasn't as bad as I thought. It really made a difference for me when they took my drain out, like I felt 30% better immediately. I have been using a heating pad which helps soothe me a bit. I still have a lot of bubbles and random hiccups that cause discomfort, but I think it is getting better everyday. I am also having a hard time meeting my daily requirements for Water and Protein, but just try to do as much as I can. So far I have no regrets and it is amazing to see my scale move, so that is keeping me motivated. I don't know if any of this helps you, but just know you are not alone!!!! I wish you the best and hang in there ok!

I had a rough recovery in July 13. I kept reading on here how people didn't even need painkillers post op and thought I was the only one. I was on IV Dilaudid for 48 hrs and liquid Vicodin for 12 days. It was the worst surgery I'd ever had, my lapband was easy peasy compared. The dr took an extra 30 mins to dig my band out causing more pain than normal.

After the first 2 weeks I started feeling more normal. It was a long 4 weeks of liquids only and I was literally starving after the first 10 days. Ull get thru it, I promise.

So yes, there's others out there that had a rough recovery. Take the IV pain meds that they offer cuz the stuff at home isn't as good. And the liquid pain meds theyll give u are good stuff! It'll all be worth it soon. As soon as u start seeing the difference in ur jeans

Go

od luck!

Yes i am 5 weeks post op and still having a rough time. Just weak and no energy. I didnt have much pain, it was just the nausea and all around sick feeling i had. Week 3 was the worst for me. I'm now starting to see a dim light at the end of the tunnel!

I was sleeved on December 20, 2013, so I am 8 weeks out. I just had a baby Feb 2013 by c section and the pain for sleeve was farrrrr more intense! The first two weeks are pretty rough.. By third week I was getting around a lot easier but felt like I had been punched in the ribs, but once that pain was gone by week 4 it has been so much easier.. I am down 52 lbs in 2 months and I couldn't be more excited! It is soo worth everything! Good luck!

I'm sorry your not feeling well. I had my surgery on 1/30 and the first coupe days were pretty rough for me. I started feeling better about 6 days post op. Only issue I still have is I get so tired. Once you get home just relax and hopefully you'll get more rest. Good luck.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I home now and managing my pain better. Peppermint tea is helping move the air and although I have the mobility of a 90 year old things are improving every day. It seems there has been some slight neglect with my aftercare in hospital which I am in the process of following up. I've had a few issues with my prescription for my take home meds to. I'm not a complainer but I really think I need to take these issues further as you all know it's a lot to go through and I chose to go private to try and make it as smooth a journey as possible.

I have no regrets however, I feel better each day and do as much as I can within my limitations. I can not wait to be healed and able to work out and get active again.

I wish u all the best and hope you all keep enjoying great results x x x

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
