Getting sleeved in 24hrs-nervous, scared, and an emotional wreck :(!

Recommended Posts

Any advice for calming my nervous pre surgey? I'm scheduled for the 2/10 at noon and I feel like I'm going to jump out of the window.

Hi ny2fly, I am newly sleeved on 5 Feb. I will pray for you to have a successful surgery. Have faith in your doctors as they had probably done the procedures on a daily basis and do keep yourself surrounded with the success stories here. It was how I gave myself positive vibes always.

cheer you on!

I am having it the same as you. It's monad around noon. I am excited but so nervous. I have hives on one of my feet due to stress/nerves.

We are almost there. Let's check in Monday or Tuesday with an update. I'll keep you in my prayers. Good luck.

First, go lock the window. Cmon, that was funny.

Really, just calm down and take a few deep breaths. You are ready for this. You've read up and gone thru the whole pre-op process. Stuck with it thru an appeal for approval. You want this and know it is going to make your life better. You're just letting yourself get too wrapped up in the unknowns. Is it gonna hurt? Will there be complications?? Forget all that. You have no control over it and if there are any issues, you will be plenty strong enough to handle whatever is required to get thru anything. But just think how silly you'll feel when this is over in the blink of an eye with none of the worrisome things swirling around in your head. Close your eyes and think pleasant relaxing thoughts and visualize yourself getting slimmer and slimmer and enjoying all the compliments. It's gonna be over so fast and you'll be home having a hard time even believing you had the surgery. And I want you to come back here with a big smile after to tell me I was right.

Now relax and enjoy all the attention your gonna get in the hospital.

Dr told me as long as I was on pain medication someone needs to be with me. I have a six yo so she will be a huge help. I am planning on her being here until Friday. Getting close. I'm 20 hrs away from checking in.

For myself, my mum is at home just in case. Just ask someone to be with you if possible. If not, do ask your kid to avoid knocking into you. I showed my niece my wound dressing and she had since treated me delicately. She had always been jumping on me and i was very nervous that she would do the same postop. You will do well!

Thanks for the responses. Believe it or not, you guys have helped more than I can express. I can say that I've done a 360 from this morning panic frenzy :). Ready to get a good nights rest and then check in at noon, surgery is at 3pm. I will keep you all posted. Tonight I'm going to Celebrate with taking "good bye" pictures of the extra pounds ???????????????? that will be in a few months!

Praying for a successful surgery for you tomorrow. I thought about what could calm your fears a little bit before you go to sleep this evening...write a letter of goodbye to your former self. Outline the yrs that you have shared with the extra lbs up/downs etc. Allow yourself to walk through the manifestation of what tomorrow and the days ahead will bring for you. (just a suggestion) Keep us posted on your journey....Save room for me on the losers bench

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
