five days away and getting really nervous. has anyone had an uneventful post op? I think I can deal with the pain but when I read about gagging, choking and spitting up I get scared.

I am sure u will do just fine..gagging and spitting up is not painful and IF u get that during your first month..it will subside. Patience is the key here and following eating stages. If u can't move to the next stage ..stage on that stage longer. I had to stay on liquids only for three weeks. The best way to make sure u are chewing your food to a pulp is cut up your food into small bites before u eat it.

Pre op..I always ate fast and not chew my food thoroughly.. Now half of it is done cause I take small bites..if u are like me ..this is a habit you will have to break..I am 8 weeks out and still have to remind myself that I need to eat slowly and chew, chew and chew. Let us know how u progress . Hope u have a speedy recovery.

My post op was completely uneventful. I didn't even have gas pain.

The first day after surgery, I was really nauseous from the medications. But after that, I was ok. When I got home, I took my nauseous meds twice a day, even when I didn't feel sick. So that helped. Other than the day after, I think I spit up only once or twice since.

Just follow the rules, and you'll be ok. Don't eat/drink too fast, or too much. Don't lay down too soon after eating.

Good luck & be patient. You'll be pleasantly surprised.

I'm 8 days, other than pain after waking from anesthesia in post op? Nothing (knock wood) no gagging, vomiting, acid, gas or problems using bathroom! You'll be fine. Good luck

I woke from surgery with a dry mouth (normal post op) and with moderate tenderness. By 10 that night I was done with any pain meds. Haven't had any issues since and been losing steadily since (until I hit the dreaded 3 week stall)

I had a some gas pain when I woke up, but that went away by the evening because I walked as much as I could. I had no nausea, vomiting, dry heaves, choking, or spitting up . . . ever. I did have some incisional pain but it was easily managed. I don't think my recovery is particularly unusual. You read a lot here about people with problems like nausea and vomiting because they are more likely to post, as they are looking for information, support, advice, etc. Make sure you get one of those Patches behind the ear for nausea prior to surgery, they help a lot!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
