I went and got some extra strength Tylenol and that helps my headache. Hopefully today is better!!!

I had headaches for three days. Even with the Tylenol. But day 4 I woke up feeling great and have felt much better and it's made the liquids so much easier to handle.

I can say the pre-op diet is working. I'm down 7 pounds since Thursday. Mind you I put on four during food funerals week. So I knew that wound balance out as soon as I stopped eating like a mad woman. Lol.

Well in 9 days I've gone from 278 to 269. And my husband made a comment last night that I look smaller. BUT my initial weigh in was 276 and then I gained 2 lbs as my week of "final meals" so I hope that what they have me recorded at will be enough of a weight loss still have 5 days to go. But I can look back to last week and remember talking to someone who was on day 9 and I was on day 3 and thought it was so far away! Well it flew by. Now I'm on day 9 and I'm not complaining anymore!!! That first week is a doozy tho! I still have cravings but its easier to resist. Yesterday I ate a spinach salad with chicken breast grilled and Protein shakes... That's all and I handled it. Today ill just have broths and Protein Shakes.< /p>

I agree! I'm on day seven but the diet has already become such a routine. My first three days were awful with headaches but now I feel okay. Still dragging at the end of the day but I am surprised tomorrow will be my second week (and one week out from surgery)! Congrats on the loss. I am down from 229 to 222. I don't really notice it though. I took "before" pics on day two. Can't wait to see the difference in a few months.

Ok so when I checked in at the hospital, they did not seem to even compare my last doc apt weigh in to my present weight. I worried for nothing. So, surgery is over. I am on day 2 pot op. I'm not very hungry at all and I am focusing on hydrating (Gatorade and water) and getting Protein into everything I eat. I have not lost any weight, but that is ok. I know I have begun an exciting journey and so have YOU!

I look forward to shopping for clothes and ENJOYING IT! That will be a first in my life. I always hated shopping!

HI! I have a high tolerance for pain but the first night was pretty bad. FINALLY the nurse increased the morphine level and I was able o sleep. You know how it is....you are trying to rest and every 20 to 30 minutes someone is coming in to do something. I am resting much better at home. My doc is going to allow me to do data entry from home so I can get caught up on some work. I dont officially go back to work until 2/18. I sure want to see some results on the scale!

When is your surgery?

We live in a wonderful world where our pain can be managed. Whether you have a high or low tolerance, you are going to be fine! I am on day 2 post op and the pain is getting less and less very quickly. It only hurts when I move certain ways. Getting out of bed is pretty bad. Get yourself something to grab onto to help lift yourself out of bed. I use and old crutch. Do the barrel roll and push up with your arms to get up. Don't use your sore tummy muscles. I have REALLY noticed a huge difference today. Getting better and better by the minute. Still craving Mexican food and I will have some when the time is right! :) A Protein packed smaller portion of course!

I am on day 3 of shakes and Protein bars. I think that if I were allowed a lean Protein and veggies I wouldn't have made it too far. Just remember that this is only the beginning of a journey to change your life. Hunger pangs won't kill you. If it gets too bad go to bed early. I've done that and work up feeling sated. Also make sure you are drinking LOTS of Water to fill you up.

You can do it! Just picture yourself at the goal line.

Why is this restriction so hard? Why do we have to follow it? Isn't that why we want the surgery? What's the logic behind this? Maybe if I knew why than I could understand why it's so important.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
