Hi all,

I am just beginning the process of deciding if this is right for me. I attended my first orientation last Monday and have spent the past week going back and forth in my mind if this is the right thing for me. I am leaning towards doing it and am trying to get going on the things they want me to do. If I decide to go through with this I will be going through Kaiser Permanente. Has anyone had experience with Kaiser?

I plan to come back to this forum a lot in the future; since those who have gone before me will be a tremendous help and this looks to be a great resource.

Thanks

Welcome Sadie to LBT! This is a great place to get info, encourangment and to express feelings.

As for using Kaiser, I cant help much I am self pay. But I have been looking into this surgery for about 5 years.. and here I am.. FINALLY! I am on the path to a lighter me, a healther me! It took me 5 years to totally know for sure and in that time I also tried everything that I had not done before that time to loose weight. I was able to find a doctor that I could afford and that I feel 100% comfortable with. I am excited to be where I am at now.. so.. you just have to do some soul searching and 'homework' if this option is right for you.

Best of luck on your journey and let me know how it goes for you!

Hello. I have been thinking about surgery for several years. I even have had 2 surgery dates scheduled in the past. I would recommend that you look around and make sure that you are comfortable with the Doctor and his staff. I also want to say that you should not have it done until you are 100% sure that you are ready for the life changes. I hope that you would be able to find answers here. Good Luck!!:smile2:

Sorry, I do not know about Kaiser either.

Hey there.........welcome !!

I'm brand new here too!! I was banded on 11/11/08 and am like 4 days out & kinda struggling!!

I had a coworker go thru the process for RNY with Kaiser out here in the East Bay,CA.It seems liked a very streamlined smooth process for her.I'd say start tp finish like 6 months.I do remember they made her lose like 20lbs or so........Hope that helps........

Good luck with your decision.........

I am a Kaiser member in California and I have finally made it through all of the hurdles they have in their program. I finally got a surgery date of December 8. I have been working on this process for almost a year. I decided to start down the path and decided this is what I want to do by reading the information on this web site. It is really helpful. Good luck with your decision.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
