I'll be a week post op tomorrow! Yay! But I was wondering if anyone else had this problem... Every sip I take of anything no matter how small, my stomach starts to spasm. It's the weirdest and most uncomfortable thing. Painful like a Charlie horse... Anyone?

I'm 5 days post op and haven't experienced that at all. I do get pain and very uncomfortable if I take too big of a swallow.

Yup, had that. For me, I couldn't drink anything too cold, warm drinks sat better with my new stomach. It's trial and error to begin with but it sounds normal.

Congratulations on your surgery and good luck!

This definitely happened to me as well. It happened mostly when I was drinking cold Water. I also tried letting Water or liquid "roll" into my mouth versus trying to sip/suck it down to make the pain stop. I'm less than a week post-op and still have a little bit, but it is getting better. It doesn't happen when I have a warm chicken or beef broth. Could you tell a difference when the liquid was either really cold or warm?

Not so weird ... Your stomach has just undergone major surgery and is adjusting. For a significantly smaller thing, I was always shocked at the noise it could make! However, the spasms and the loud grumbling noises did pass. It's early days, it will settle down....

Yes! I know exactly what you are going through I had this issue for maybe two weeks but it gets better. As much as we all want that cold drink its so much easier to sip it at room temperature but its normal your body just went through trauma but trust me it will all be worth it

A heating pad on the stomach will help with those spasms. I still get them at times. I just place a heating pad on my tummy and it works wonders....

I was wondering about the same thing. I will be a week post op on friday and still experiencing a lot of pain in my stomach from drinking fluids. I glad to see that eventually it will go away.

I had the same problem, horrible spasms right after surgery and for a few months following. My Dr. prescibed Reglan for me. It helped a lot. It will go away after awhile. I am now 6months out and only have the spasms every now and then, hardly ever really. My issue is and has always been acid reflux. It wont go away. I take Prilosec everyday, if i miss even one day I have the wost heartburn. My keeps saying it will go away but 6 months later i still have horrible acid reflux. Does anyone else have this problem???

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
