  3. Hi everyone I was a low bmi too. I started at 210, 203 on the day of surgery. I am 6 weeks post op (01/17/14) and I have lost 31 pounds (10 before the surgery on pre op diet). I have a question has anyone else stalled in their progress. I stayed in the low 180's for a week and a half and now stuck at 179. I am extremely conscious of my calorie intake and am "exercising" (walking per dr's orders) at least 3 times a week. I am consuming 800-1000 calories (as suggested in the surgery manual) and getting my protein targets. Has anyone experience something similar or is there something I am doing wrong? Thanks for all of your help.
  4. this is so encouraging. I thought i was doing something wrong. I just going to stick to it and follow the guidelines.

  9. I was wondering about the same thing. I will be a week post op on friday and still experiencing a lot of pain in my stomach from drinking fluids. I glad to see that eventually it will go away.
  10. Hi everyone I have a general question for you. I am almost a week post op and I am struggling with knowing my hunger signals. I realize the there are a certain amount of grams I need for protein a day as well as water intake, however I a genuinely not feeling hungry. Actually it wasn't until about a day ago before I stopped throwing up. In any case what has everyone else did in regard to meal time. In addition did anyone find it a struggle to get the 3 liters of water a day. I barely get through the top of the bottle and my stomach is cramping, this is even with bird sips. I need help please and thank you.
  11. I had a secret surgery. I just had my surgery last friday on 17th. I didn't tell anyone other than my mother, who also had wls, until the week before. This was done because I would have the " your not fat enough to have surgery". REALLY what is fat enough? In any case, I will continue to keep it a secret from my boyfriend's family and co-workers. This is primarily because they are from an older generation and his aunt is a nutritionist. Ultimately, I am choosing not to care, because it's done now, I doing great and really that is all that matters.

  13. That's great! It always great to fall in love with a friend.
  14. Today was day one for me. IT WAS AWFUL! I am still very very hungry. I'm not sure how the next 13 days are going to work out for me. I am also disappointed because I slipped and had a hand full of almonds and a banana which I probably didn't need. I will try to have maybe more vegetables tomorrow and one less snack.

  18. LOL the people at the grocery store must have thought I was crazy with my 30 cases of sugar free jello and pudding. I start my liquid diet on the 3rd. I have been able to sleep much, I have my scope tomorrow morning. I know there is nothing to be afraid of in concerns to the surgery itself. I am just worried how WLS is going to affect my personal relationships. I have gotten a lot support from a few family members, mainly because my mom got a lap band 2 years ago. However, my boyfriend along with other family members are telling me that I'm not "that fat" and that this is the "lazy way out" and why don't I just exercise. I explain to them that surgery or not I will still need to diet and exercise. Regardless, I'm really not understanding the "fat enough" logic. What does that even mean? Do I have to wait until my bmi is at 50 for WLS to be ok? SMH I didn't mean to rant but its frustrating especially since I am so close to surgery. Has anyone else been dealing with similar situations?
  19. I question for everyone. I am coming up on my surgery date and I am extremely excited, but I have noticed that the closer the date becomes the more vocal my boyfriend becomes about how I'm taking the "easy way out". He is also over weight, not significantly less than 20 pounds to lose. My bmi is 38 and I am trying to be proactive about my health because I am at risk of diabetes and high blood pressure. Most of my family is on board and have been supportive, notice how I said most. I can't help but wonder if WLS is going to put a dent in my "long" time relationship. Regardless of the effects it may have on my relationship I won't change my mind, I'm going to do this for me. I just want to know if anyone else has experience this problem in their relationship pre and post surgery?
  20. Ok I finally got my surgery date. I am schedule for January 17th. I am kind of sad because that is one of my family member's birthdays. I assured them I will celebrate their special day either before or a couple weeks afterwards.

  22. I do not have my official date until the 24th but I believe I will be scheduled the first week of January. I am excited, nervous, and everything in between. I have the support of my mother who 2 years ago had the lap band, but no one else knows in my family. I wasn't planning on telling them until 2 days before my surgery. My family gave my mom such a hard time when she decided to embark on her journey, I decided it was best for my mental health to keep this to myself. In any case I am extremely excited to start on this journey. Good luck to everyone.
  23. Hi Fit4myFam. I too am a low bmier I have a bmi of 38. I have been fortunate that my health insurance believes in preventive care, they approved me the first try. Believe me I am shocked too. I am hoping that they will schedule my surgery in the first weeks of January. I will soon have my preop appoint on Christmas Eve, what a great Christmas present to myself. I am in the process of gathering all of the food that I will need in the first two months post operations. I am still trying to prepare myself for this lifestyle change. I am still struggling with the cravings for junk food especially around that TOM. I am currently looking into healthier snack choices, ie. baked apple chips, kale chips, etc. I wish the best of luck in your journey.
