Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

Bummer! I gained 3.5 pounds. I have a Protein Shake in the a.m. An egg in the afternoon, and for dinner I have a piece of chicken, steak, or hamburg. I'm lactose intolerant so it's hard to find safe foods to eat. I'm working out everyday. I'm confused as to why I'm gaining.

It could be muscle gain from the weight loss, exercise, and Protein intake. It could also be Water weight. I am constantly battling with water weight. If I don't take a diuretic, I gain 5-15 pounds in water. I am hoping this stops once I drop more weight. If you are really concerned, talk to your medical support group.

How is everyone doing? I am loving the spring temps that we are having. I have started walking my dog around the neihborhood for some excercise besides the eliptical :). I hope all is well :)

Good to hear you are getting out and enjoying the weather and that you are doing well. I would love to be able to jog or run I have one bad knee that has already had two surgeries on for torn acl and torn mcl.

I don't know what I would do if I couldn't workout. Its never been something I had to push myself to do but rather push not to overdo. I gained weight after I quit smoking and a hysterectomy 4 yrs ago but still jogged.

Hi there, been a while since I checked in! Things are going well, I had my 3 month post op appointment yesterday I am down 70 pounds, the doctor and nutritionist are very happy with my progress and say I am right on track. I was worried that the weight is coming off a bit quick, she reassured me that I am right where I need to be. I feel like a completely different person, my energy levels are off the charts, I can go from 6AM until 10PM, I am going to work, working out and currently taking a certification course at the local college. I wish I had done this years ago, I regret wasting the time I have.. I hope everyone else is doing well.

Hair loss? ? I knew it would happen but wow!! If I wasn't slipping into size 6 shorts I'd be devastated at the handfuls that come out every wash. Anyone know of anything that helps (besides biotin) or when it is supposed to stop??

WTG on the size 6!

Make sure you are getting in your Protein. I think I've read it stops around 7 months? I'm not positive.

I use a Nioxin Shampoo and conditioner from Sally's Beauty Supply. I'm not sure if it will help but I guess it won't hurt.

Thanks!! I tried nioxin, not sure it's doing anything. Oh well, I'll wear a ponytail until it comes back... Or maybe get extensions once it stops falling out.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
