Any Roanoke/Salem, VA sleevers out there?

Recommended Posts

Good luck with your appointments and pre-surg diet.

I am sorry to hear about your uncle. I lost my mom in Feb so I know what you mean by rough.

Let me know if you want a referral credit at Bariatric Choice. They have all kinds of Protein and food and Snacks as well as Vitamins. You can use the credit on anything. I can't stand the Calcium horse pills so I get the Cake Bites, but their Protein Bars and snack bars are good too.

I know you are getting excited. It will be here and be over before you know it. I can't believe I am 2 1/2 months out now! I am still dropping but hoped it would be more than it is. I have to look at the big picture though. I am only 50 lbs from the goal now. When I say it that way it sounds better. Lol.

Good luck and keep me posted!

Hello my surgery is Monday at 11:15am. I'm super excited and super nervous. I'm camping now with the family and I ate a hot dog and now I'm worried cuz I'm supposed to be on the liquid diet. I've only lost 6 pounds on it. Not much at all I'm hoping dr powers won't be disappointed and not do the surgery. Did they weight you before surgery in the hospital day of surgery? Man I'm so stressing.

That's awesome!!! So excited for you. Who's your surgeon? I have Dr Kinga Powers. I love her. I'm close to 1 month out and lost 40 lbs so far. I'm at the dreadful stall currently. scale has not moved in over 6 days. Makes me mad. I get pretty much all of my Fluid intake in each day and always my protien. I work out at the gym 5 days per week and no movement in the scale. I hope it doesn't last long. It's discouraging.

Dr. Powers is my surgeon:) wow even being at a stall 40 lbs down is wonderful. Im sur the stall will be over before you know it and u be right back to losing:) Your close to one month out....was you in alot of pain after surgery? That is the part that I am scared about is the pain..or a leak.. I have had three csections and my gallbladder removed...I keep telling myself it shoudnt be no worse then that but there is so many difernt stories on the internet some people just in pain first day or so and sum for weeks. So I am iffy on how to feel or how much to worry about it

Yay I'm glad you have dr powers. No pain at all!!!!! I'm allergic to all pain meds (narcotics) and don't worry about a leak. Dr powers checks for a leak during surgery and then the next day you do a swallow test with contrast. The stuff they have you swallow is disgusting but take 2 big gulps cuz the more you drink of it the better they can see if any leaks. It's hard to drink and makes you cringe but it's for your good. Just keep that in mind. I was walking 2 miles 2 days after surgery. I had the most awesome experience ever!!! My 1 month follow up is Monday 5/19 and I'm hoping Kay will tell me to go forward with soft food stage. Also if you hadent bought any protien drinks yet, let me give you some advice.... I ordered the Unjury online and spent $147 on prolly a 3 week supply!!! I now smartened up and use the muscle milk 4 pack from Walmart and it has 20 grams of protien and there's also another brand there a 4 pack also that has 23grams in it. Waaaay cheaper and MUCH better tasting. I always get my protien in. If you ever wanna chat my face book is Tara Huffman in Buchanan VA add me if you would like to and my cell is 540-521-5500.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
