Want to eat so bad....

Recommended Posts

I am 15 days post op the sleeve and want to eat so bad. This is torture. My nausea has been so bad I am hardly getting in any Water or Protein. I feel extremely weak and no where near back to my self. Starting to beat myself up about having the surgery by asking myself if I could have done it on my own? A little late I admit. Sure hope things turn around. Anyone else have this type of experience? Does it get better? Encouragement needed.

You really need to work on geting your Water and Protein in. That is probably causing your nausea and making you feel hungry and weak. Are you on prilosec or any other antiacid? If not...ask to get on one...or get some over the counter prilosec (omeprozole is the generic name) acid can make you nauseated and feel hungry as well.

you might also want to go to the doctor to make sure your not dehydrated. You should be able to get your fluids in by now.

I had trouble with nausea, a liquid antacid worked for me when a pill would not (because I kept vomiting the pill). Once the liquid coated my stomach the nausea was completely gone.

Did your doctor prescribe something for acid? If not, you may want to check into an over the counter acid reducer or see if the doc can prescribe you something.

Once you get the acid/nausea under control, it should be easier to focus on the Water and Protein - that will probably lead to you feeling better.

I had some buyer's remorse right after I had the surgery - once I started feeling better, it went away and haven't looked back.

I hope you feel better soon!

I tell you what. Every day after the surgery gets soooo much better, you'll be surprised. One day I was only able to drink 14 oz of Water, the very next day I could drink twice that.

You'll be astonished how quickly you'll feel better so just know that what you feel today is NOT what you will feel a week from now.

As others have said just keep sipping, worry less about Protein than Water, and just accept that you had MAJOR surgery. It's okay to feel like a truck just ran over you.

Rest, sleep, pamper yourself, take long baths if you can, watch tv, distract yourself, drink things that taste/feel good to you--just don't eat. Too dangerous for your poor new tummy.

And also if you call your doc, they might prescribe something for the nausea, if the antacid mentioned above doesn't cut it.

Water and milk both nauseated me. My doctor put me on Gatorade, juice, and ginger ale ... He said we had to do whatever it took to keep me out of the ER. Call your doctor. Fluids are more important than Protein at this point. I was also put on protonix long term, I quit taking when I was nauseous and the acid was apparently the biggest problem.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
