  1. Yes...too much unflavored protein you can tell something is in there but I don't think it's bad. Just be careful on the temperature. ...Over 140 degrees and it will curdle. I put 1/2 scoop in my coffee every morning. ..makes it seem creamier. I use the premier protein shakes too. You just have to try different things until you find what you like. I also eat OS trim high protein Jerry sticks
  2. I have to put unflavored protein in everything I can.
  3. I didn't have this going on, but I would use a large, overnight pad, let the nurses know ajead of time, and they can help change you after if needed. That's what nurses do, or if your married, your husband just may have ot help as well. I could have changed my own if it wasn't for the phenergan and morphine I was on

    Heart burn

very common to deal with acid after surgery...I was on prilosec for 6 weeks, tried weaning off onto pepecid. ...no go, just got back on the prilosec. Some people have a problem with acid long after surgery, some just for a few months...just depends.

    Not enjoying food:(

I have had no physical problems, I am 3 months out and I still don't really care for food. My whole outlook since surgery has changed. I dont know if its because of all the liquids detoxed me, or just not being hungry etc...but for what ever reason food is no fun anymore. I am not hating that at all, but I do wish things seemed good again. Now I just eat because I have too. But.....at least food is no lnger running my life and I am eating to survive and fuel my body vereses what it use to be to me.

    Straws

I was told not to use them because the intial sip is air that has filled up the straw before then fluids come....this can cause ar in pouch which equals gas etc. I am 3 months out and I have sipped on a straw here and there..noproblems. I drink more that way, but I haven't used one consistantly or for an entire drink so I am not sure how I would actually do.

    Severely Light Headed!

This happened to me for 3 days around the same time. It was terrible...I just made sure to get my Protein in....I added some poweraide zero to all my Water...like 1/2 and 1/2...made sure I was taking my vitamines and added Iron....felt normal after all of that so I keep up that routine accept the water is 3/4 and poweraide is 1/4 I think it was the iron that really helped.Try to increase calories if you can too..maybe just by 100 cals... I even went to my PCP...they ran my labs and all was good. BP was great etc. I even checked my BP at home when I was very dizzy...

    Embarrassingly clueless to working out!

You can start out with cardio on a recumbent bike. Just go as long as you can, build up to how fast you go etc. I like doing the random hills program...I dont ahve to think about it too much that way. Then you can have someone at the gym show you how to use the weight machines and just use them...switch up what body parts you do ...arms and shoulders monday, legs tuesday...etc... But do some cardio first everytime. If you join a gym they may have some promotions on trainers...you can even do just 3-5 visits with them to make sure you know what you are doing Oh and I dont mean to sound creepy but I wll watch other people and see what they do...it can be helpful...well..unless I did what one lady did ...she literally ate a donut while she was on the treadmill!
  16. I am 8 weeks out....I haven't found a slider food yet..and I REALLY hope I never do. I have tried popcorn, chips and cake on my Bday..but they didn't go down easily. I haven't pushed the envelope any more than that.

    Ever able to "gulp" again?

I am 2months out and I can already gulp more than I was able to a few weeks ago.
  18. michelle68

    Popcorn? When?

I have tried it...But I am thinking it is a no go for me, at lease for now. It caused my pouch to start gurrgling and I ended up with hiccups....I have never had that happen before. But it sure was good. My husband pops organic on the stove with a little oil and salt...tasted butter with out the butter mmmmmmmm

    Calories, excersise and starvation

Thank you for sharing your experience. It does help. I am on a full diet now...... thank goodness LOL I will try to increase my calories and start off slow with the work out and see how things go. i do track on myfitness pal and I have noticed I have to have a minimum of 500 cals a day to keep loosing. So I will def need to increase calorie intake. My son is a fitness trainer, he said I will need to add caloies too..its jus hard when i can only take 5-6 bites at a sitting. So starnge to hear I need to add calories for once instead of decreasing!
  20. I am 8 weeks post op and going to start back to the gym. I am averaging 500-600 cals a day....if I work off calories...is that going to put my body into starvation mode with very little cals left? Do you have to increase the cals alittle this early out to compisate for some you burn? I would only have about 100 cals left in a day after a work out

    Calories, excersise and starvation

Thank you!!!!! I am going to see if my NUT will give me some calorie info...she doesn't like giving it out either. I guess I need to try to get more cals in but I cannot eat more than 5-6 bites still...maybe I will try to eat more often or something. I was owrking out before surgery....not as consistant as I need too since we have 5 kids at home, but I do my best. I am nt seditary at all..i walk at work a lot and I dont sit much...but it will be good to get back into the gym!

    Gall Stones

I had my VSG and gallbladder removed at the same time on 12/19/13...... I dontknow if the recovery was harder or not really, but it did generally take me longer to recouperate then any other surgery I had in my life. It wasn't due to pain, but I had low energy and felt off and tired for 2 weeks. My larger incision was pretty sore for a few weeks too, so I dont know if it was because of were it was or from them sucking 2 things out of it instead of 1. LOL But after 2 weeks I started feeling better everyday. By week 5 it was like nothing had been done.
  24. My family out of pocket was met so all I had was a 500.00 copay. I was blessed indeed.
