Pre op liquid diet

Recommended Posts

I'm glad it's going so well for you! Me, i always felt the gnawing hunger, i just got better at ignoring it. I do believe that after you do liquids for several days you body does get used to it and the hunger pangs get better. Not sure if it was nerves or me getting used to it, but the day before ,y surgery i had been liquid dieting for about 9 days and i wasn't hungry or thirsty. I barely drank any Water or Protein. I just didn't want it.

What kind of Protein have you been having?

The beginning was the worst. As surgery gets closer it becomes much easier. You're out of the worst of it now!

I really feel sorry for you folks that have had to do extended liquid diets!!!! I consider myself extremely lucky in that I only have to do all liquids the day before surgery. I'm having surgery on 1/7. Have to take MOM on Sunday night 1/5, liquid diet on 1/6 and off to the hospital at 4:30 a.m. on 1/7. Good luck DCborn and everyone else!!! Happy New Year!!!

Sounds like you are set up for success. As for the worst part of preop, mine was the 1st 3 days when I had bad headaches and then surprisingly, day 14. For some reason I got REALLY hungry that day and almost cheated. I kind of had a panic attack over the whole decision to have surgery then, too. But I made it through and am 9 days postop. Believe me, you will hardly give your preop diet a second thought once it's over.

I'm January 6th as well. I start my liquid diet on Tuesday (new year's eve... tequila's a liquid, right?). Excitement and trepidation abound. Sounds like you're much better prepared for the diet than I am, DCborn. I'm kind of ignoring it until it gets here so I don't wear myself out with anxiety. Haha. Ugh...

Good luck, man. I'll see you on the other side, sir.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
