December post ops

Recommended Posts

I had my surgery the day before you and I've lost 40 so I think you are on track. The slower you lose the more time your skin has to bounce back. I had 90-100 to lose so people who have more might be losing faster. I have only eaten the lean cuisine garlic egg roll like things, they are yummy.

I guess it could be a matter of choice. Of course if you incorporate carbs in you will not have the faster weight loss like if you mainly stuck to more Proteins fruits and veggies. But it is a quick and easy meal to grab to bring to work and it could help due to Portion Control. Everyone is different. Everything that they say is not a "cookie cutter" for everyone. I eat what I want. I eat what agrees with my new pouch. I try to eat mainly proteins veggies and fruit but some days that doesn't happen. I was sleeved in September and had major complications afterwards so then I was converted to RNY in December. I have lost right at about 100lbs now. I think the main thing I have taken from this site is that we are not all the same. What I have also learned is that not all of the docs are the same about their post op diet plans. I say do what makes you happy.

Me too! I am feeling nauseous since last night and I am making myself eat something but I don't want to. Wonder what's up with that?

I tried the lean meals and they made me sick. I find stuff with sauce make me sick most times. I was also told not to eat Pasta because it can get all gloopy in your pouch and hurt. I am finding i am getting sick alot lately so going to call my nurse and see if maybe i am pushing myself too fast of foods. Also i am glad you said something about slow weight lose and skin you made my day. I was worried about how slow i am right now but thinking about skin shrinkage makes it ok for me now..thanks.

Redstacey you have most 100 since December? Wow. I though I was doing good by losing 54 since my dec surgery.

Noooo. I have lost 100lbs since September. I was sleeved in September and I had a lot of complications afterwards. Had another surgery in October. Then did the sleeve to RNY conversion in early December. But the majority of the weight loss has been since December 10th was my RNY. You are doing great. Keep up the good work. I feel as long as our scales keep moving downwards we are all doing a good job.

My scale moves maybe a lb a week sometimes 2 but at least some of my skin will be hopefully shrinking with my body so not as much loose skin. I know I will have some but hopefully not too much!

La Donna,

I have eaten Pasta, but very little and only a few times. I am not real good about getting in all my Protein and fluids, but am working on that daily. I lost about 30 pounds pre-op and about 40 since my surgery, which was Dec 9, 2013. I have not begun a specific exercise routine, however I have done some (video) work-outs since being cleared for physical activity. I have found that there are weeks where the scale moves very little, and then I have weeks where it moves much quicker. I don't think there is an exact science, and as one member already said, there is no cookie cutter method that works for everyone. I am both blessed and cursed in that I can eat anything. I mean anything! Sugar, fat, carbs…nothing seems to upset my pouch. I sometimes wish this was not the case, as it makes it really tempting (and easy) to eat foods I should not be eating.

Sounds like you are doing great! Keep up getting in your Proteins, as I have heard that is the real key to weight loss.

Hope this helps!!
Sara

Thank you so much! It has been a rough journey. Most of the weight loss has been since the bypass. I still have a hard time excepting the fact that I have lost that much weight. When I look in the mirror I still just see me@

Redstacy. I do understand that. After losing 60 I tried on some clothes in my closet yesterday. I out on a pair of jeans and a shirt I haven't wore in a while. My adult daughter came in and told me the shirt was too big and talked me into wearing a smaller one. She told me to look at myself In the mirror. I just kept looking at my trouble spots instead of where I have lost. I wanted to put the big clothes back on because they made me feel like I could hide those trouble spots I focus on. ????. I realized I need to work on the inside me as well as the outside me. I'm a happy and loving person to everyone except me. Today I looked in that mirror and said. Dang. I look good. Lol. And I have raised a very smart young woman.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
