  6. La Donna, I have eaten pasta, but very little and only a few times. I am not real good about getting in all my protein and fluids, but am working on that daily. I lost about 30 pounds pre-op and about 40 since my surgery, which was Dec 9, 2013. I have not begun a specific exercise routine, however I have done some (video) work-outs since being cleared for physical activity. I have found that there are weeks where the scale moves very little, and then I have weeks where it moves much quicker. I don't think there is an exact science, and as one member already said, there is no cookie cutter method that works for everyone. I am both blessed and cursed in that I can eat anything. I mean anything! Sugar, fat, carbs…nothing seems to upset my pouch. I sometimes wish this was not the case, as it makes it really tempting (and easy) to eat foods I should not be eating. Sounds like you are doing great! Keep up getting in your proteins, as I have heard that is the real key to weight loss. Hope this helps!! Sara
  7. I have noticed my skin and scalp have become very dry lately. I am wondering if this has anything to do with my limited food intake (like reduced fats and carbs, not enough protein, or possible signs of dehydration??), or if it is just a coincidence? Has anyone else dealt with this? I am about 2.5 months post-op (surgery 12-09-13). Thanks! Sara

  9. Hello! I just joined this site today, and am still trying to learn how to use it. I had my (gastric bypass) surgery Dec. 9, 2013. So far I have had very few problems. Recently, I started having some pain on my right side. Anyone else experience this? It is almost like a side ache, but not too over powering. My biggest post-op struggles have been waiting 30 minutes before and after eating to drink anything, and getting in all my protein. I am also discovering that while my body is physically limited (by the surgery) my mind is the same as it has always been; thus, I am dealing with the same cravings and desires (to overeat, eat out of boredom, and emotional eating) that got me obese in the first place. I have been looking for books to read that deal with some of the emotional baggage I am still toting when it comes to eating. I just recently got the clearance to exercise, and I am considering joining my local YMCA. I have read (and heard) about people who have weight loss surgery and then gain their weight back after some time. For me, I have allowed these stories to put a tremendous amount of pressure on my success…pressure I really don't need. Well, that is sufficient for my introduction. I look forward to getting to know you all better! Thanks for listening to me ramble! Sara
