December post ops

How far out are you?

In the beginning I couldn't eat much either. My nut told me to try six smaller meals a day for a while and that helped a lot. I still like my Protein Shake for Breakfast and sometimes in the evening if I still need a Protein boost. Eventually I was able to eat a little more and I went to three meals and two Snacks.< /p>

That's reassuring. I have my Protein Shake for breakfast too. I ll try the mini meals that sounds like it would work. I guess I need to listen to my body. Thanks for the advice!!

I have a problem. Had my RNY December 9th on the 17th I could start purée It's been a slow process I can eat sf pudding, cottage cheese, yogurt, scrambled eggs. I just threw up after trying to eat haddock I think I ate too fast. I'm still in pain I can feel the food in my esophagus? Will this go away eventually, feeling the food I don't feel like throwing up anymore. Thanks for the help. Jan 7th I can go to stage 3 diet I don't think I can do that.

Debbie, did you purée the haddock? I had RNY on 12/19 and am on puréed until 1/19. No meats yet, not even fish (even if puréed). I'm on things like cottage cheese, Greek yogurt, cream of wheat, Protein Shakes, ff refrained beans... Pretty much Protein shakes and dairy, mostly. I think if I had haddock right now, I'd barf too (and I love haddock)!

I think I probably took too big of bites. I also had butternut squash with it. Thanks for the help. I'm gonna slow down and stick with the stuff I know I can handle.

Glad to help! We're all in this new life together.

I felt like I had good in my throat so to takeu own advice and the advice I was given I made my bites the size of a pencil eraser and it works marvelously ! It's hard to eat that small of bites but I have many more things to learn as I travel this road of a walnut size tummy! With all of you along side me of course. This forum is the first thing I look at when I pick up my phone! Glad you are all with me for this ride.

Now is that the eraser that's usually on a pencil, or a pink pearl, or really a chalk or whiteboard eraser? ;-)

The one on a pencil although I would rather it be the big pink eraser! Lol

Yes, that's about all I can handle too of the new stuff I've experimented with. Anything bigger SCARES me. It's like my head hunger says "Yes!" And my body says if you do, I'll really make you pay!

No I didn't purée it. I should have! I'm on purée too, but they told me I could have meat. Every time I try meat it doesn't work out too well. I'm sticking with the soft stuff. Cottage cheese, yogurt, sf pudding, Protein Shakes. Things like that. Thanks for the advice.

Pink pearl bites would be fab! But I suppose I better use the small one on the end of a pencil as an idea if how small the bites are! Lol

I just had my surgery on Monday and honestly I feel too good. I am hungry or at least my brain is and this liquid diet is for the birds. I had sf Jello today and I couldn't stand it as it was too sweet. I loved sweets pre-op so maybe I got my wish and my sweet tooth was cut out. I think tomorrow I might try a bit or two of yogurt. I don't want to rush and rupture my pouch or anything but I haven't had any real food in over a week. Anyone else struggled with just liquids post-op?

I think we all struggle. We were good eaters pre-surgery after all. But the limits of the pouch keep us on track. I can't take sweets anymore either. Or Water, strangely. But I found a little lemon juice in my water bottle makes it more palatable. My NUT says most of us can't handle sweets, even crystal light, except in diluted quantities. She says it's our bodies trying to protect us from "dumping syndrome". I've found that sour things are easier to handle, like that little bit of lemon juice.

I had my RNY on 12/31. I am 4 days post op and finally feeling better. I've been doing good getting my fluids in along with some Protein. Today is the first day that I am going to track and try to meet my requirements.

I'm both happy & nervous to be on the loser's bench.

I also had mine on 12/31. I'm finally feeling human again this afternoon. Working on meeting my Fluid requirements. I have absolutely no interest in food. This is very new to me.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
