I do not believe in hell...I think that if God is loving, he would not set up a place like that to torture people in...

I believe that hell is interpreted that way to make people feel justified or happy that revenge will be paid to those that have done them wrong.....

Isn't death punishment enough....just what I think don't hang me up for it ..K

This is good because you have a choice and for me my choice is to read and believe in it from the bottom up! God is all powerful and full of grace, however; there will be a day that some will have to account for their deeds. Rev 20: 12-15 Be in the right place at the right time! I also read it from bottom to top. Although I do believe there is a hell and it is the life I am living right now here on earth. We have wars, men and women killing each other, kids killing whomever they choose, drugs galore, crime running rampant and all the other evil that currently exists. I do believe in heaven and that it will be my reward when I leave here. Again, as said by others, this is my opinion and belief.

Oh wow...don't get me started. As to your "death is punishment enough" statement...I've always wondered why believers feared death in the first place. I would think they'd welcome it. Why wear seat belts? Why wear a helmet? Why have WLS? The sooner you die the sooner you go the the everlasting right? What am I missing?

If death is natural and a part of our lives then why the crying, pain and suffering when someone dies...If it was natural why try so hard to escape it.....We do everything we can to save ourselves from it.....(Except when you are not in the right frame of mind).

Anyhow...I don't see the point of barbecuing people in hell for eternity. I think that hell is a tactic to control the masses with fear. I believe God is love..It does not make sense....

I am not going to reply to this thread again..That is how I feel, not being preachy! Just feel this way that's all.....

It is quite a convergence of conflicting ideologies within my mind. On one hand I am inextricably involved with my relationship with Christ and love to share Him. On the other hand, I respect the sovereignty of will and choice that all people are entitled to and in no way want to violate that line of respect.

Then, as a host, I must maintain objectivity and a measure of detachment.

I have had extensive discussions with atheists on both scientific and theological grounds and have most enjoyed the ones that remained civil. I, in fact, have considered myself an atheist in my past and as a minister since the 70's have had very deep doubts at times. Somehow my faith holds and remains a bastion of joy in my life, but I can empathize with opposing points of view.

Then there is the fact that I am very fond of the folks I've come to know on the forum. I know that religion can easily cause rifts in relationships and I certainly don't want that to happen.

My job is to maintain reasonable peace without jumping on sides. I think I can do that. Might not be easy, though, especially when I know I am always right.

Edit: I am watching a Bulls game as I write this. There are guys on the floor with whistles who are running back and forth. They might be Bulls fans but dare let that be a factor on their decisions. That's me.
