Reorganization of USA Local Gastric Sleeve Support and Buddies/Mentors

Hi Alex,

Would it be possible to have a forum topic for each state and then move the threads into the appropriate state? If so, can you provide instructions on how to set up the main forum topic?

Also, here is an example when someone was asking about support groups in Illinois. There appear to be several for the Chicago area. Can or should they all be merged?

http://www.bariatric...one-in-chicago/

http://www.bariatric...-chicago-burbs/

http://www.bariatric...ago-area-group/

http://www.bariatric...llinous-anyone/

http://www.bariatric...-area-sleevers/

http://www.bariatric...icago-sleevers/

http://www.bariatric...rbs-of-chicago/

http://www.bariatric...0-chicago-subs/

http://www.bariatric...-pretty-please/

http://www.bariatric...nachicago-area/

http://www.bariatric...cago-southland/

Please let me know what you think about this suggestion.

When we first launched the local support forum we divided it up by state. Don't remember why we decided to do away with the State sub-forums. It might make more sense to allow members to add a state tag or state pre-fix to the title (I'm adding this feature shortly.) We're trying not to add additional forums, unless absolutely necessary.

Generally I'm not gung ho on merging similar topics. It does make sense in this situation.

I would ask in the threads who wants to be merged. Support groups tend to bond over time and not want to be separated or inundated with "strangers" sometimes.

Some of these threads are older and have not had activity in more than a year.

Being from the Chicago area, I will say that there's a world of difference between Chicago and downstate Illinois, for example. That said, I haven't logged onto the local forum so I don't know if there's really a difference.

Fluffnomore,

I used to live in Southern Illinois and we always felt that Chicago seemed to be the only area that mattered in the state of Illinois. I have now moved to Missouri right across the river.

You might check out the sites and find people close to you for support also.

:-) That matters? That's strong. I just mean in terms of what's around. Unless you or a family member went to Illinois, it seems like very few people even know what's going on more than about an hour in any direction of Chicago. But that sounds jerky too, so I'll stop. I don't mean it that way.
