I started at 223 pounds. Got down to 187 before the getting the Lap Band. I have had the Band for 2 years. Now I am at about 150 and seem to be holding at this level. My surgeon originally forecast a weight of 140. My dietitican however stated that I have already surpassed the average percentage weight loss. My difficulty is that I want to get to 140. Right now I do have good-well actually much improved-quality of life. I do not have to focus on my diet overmuch, but with this I have fallen prey to some poor food choices at times. I want to feel successful but am not sure I have the discipline it would take to get to 140. I would like to get to this level as it would be a high normal wieght. Any motivational advice???

I'm amazed that you say you want to be successful by getting to 140....YOU WENT FROM 223 DOWN TO 150---I'D SAY WOW---THATS SUCCESSFUL!!!

I know those last 10 lbs would be nice to achieve but I hope you don't let it negate the great achievement you have already accomplished!

Good luck to you!

Thank you everyone for your replies and words of encouragement. I think this can become part of the process of saying "Yes I will continue to work towards it." With it being the x-mas season my first goal will be to not gain over the holiday season (so far so good). Next I will get back to the basics and I do need to start to exercise more.

Great success -- way to go! If you want this last ten off maybe the addition of exercise is the ticket. I am far from my goal but like the idea of a buffer. Congratulations on all the hard work and perseverance and thank you for the inspiration this morning. It can be done!

Oh I so agree with chasing. Don't focus on the numbers. You are already a success and it sounds like you have reached your goals. The additional ten pounds is gravy. Nice to have, but not necessary. Do what you feel you need to in order to reach the 140 number, but don't make that more important than the complete weight loss and quality of life you already have achieved.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
