Any February 2014 Sleevers?

Thank you, I will look for that too. I guess it is reflux, I've never experienced it before. I just know this nasty tasting liquid antacid plus gas x is doing the trick and I am wondering if the prescription the dr gave me would have prevented this.

costco also has omeprozole. It was a very good price. That's where I picked it up.

Are you aware that Prilosec is the same as Omeprazole?? Look for that at CVS, the pharmacist told me is exactly the same and that is the one you can crush. Let me know how it goes!

Yup. I sure am. And it's always been a capsule, no matter if it's store brand, brand name, or generic from the pharmacy with my prescription.

I don't know what to tell ya. I've been taking prilosec on and off for over a year. I started off buying the brand name stuff, then got smart and switched to walgreens brand. I got a script for it when I had my EGD done in January, and it's also a capsule. Not to be rude, but I know my drugs. I've taken pharmacology, and I'm in school for nursing.

Well.... Prilosec and Zantac didn't do anything to help me, as I have GERD. So, I take protonix twice daily.

Jen, I'm thrilled to hear from ya, girl!! I'm totally blending some chicken with avocado tomorrow!

I finally had the best and most awesome BM today. Woo!

So I bought one of those Protein shot drink things. You know, 42 grams of protein in 3.8 oz dealies. It was gross. I cut it with Water and it wasn't horrible, so I got through it. Mostly because I got a stern talking to about getting protein on at my 2 week follow up appt on Tuesday. But now I'm the horrible taste of the stuff won't leave my mouth. I ate some Soup hoping it would, and after every bite. Still there. Gross!

I'm officially down 31 lbs in a month. I started my liquid diet a month ago yesterday. I couldn't be happier!!

Hi all--so I am pretty anxious bc I had surgery 2/18 and got my staples removed last week. Today at work I touched my shirt (middle of my stomach) and it had blood. Luckily I was wearing black. My incision started bleeding through. It's a tiny hole that is oozing blood only. It comes out like honey (slow but steady) I washed it either peroxide and put neosporin on it and covered it with a gauze and a bandaid. The doc said it should heal up and it will be fine. It's the only one giving me trouble I think bc of where it is. That was the main hole they used. Has anyone else experienced this ??

I haven't experienced this, but I do hope it heals fast for you.

I didn't have staples but I know the incision site they pulled the stomach through on me has been the worse! Sometimes it feels like a hot searing burning pain from it, not sure why I didn't realize it but she said they had to cut my stomach muscles.

I hope your incision heals up soon for you :-)

I am 16 days out and feeling pretty great! I still have some minor pain/soreness in my big incision, but Tylenol kicks it. I am struggling with getting my fluids/protein in, as I'm just not hungry or thirsty. I'm trying hard today. I had a lab practical today, and basically you go to a different station every 2.5 minutes, so I took a g2 to class with me and made sure I took at least one sip at every station. I managed a half a bottle of g2 in that hour and a half. That's better than I do in a whole day.

But I've melted 33 lbs off my body, and I couldn't be happier about this decision to change my life. I've lost 10% of my former self! In a month!

That's awesome. No problems here. Sleeved Feb 3rd. It hit 29 lbs this morning and 75 lbs total with pre op diet. I'm taking in around 70 ozs of Water, 700 cals and 80 grams of Protein per day. It's going to be an awesome summer for us. Here is a picture of my progress. The two pics are maybe 8 woks apart and around 40 lbs. post-180481-0-31183400-1394227212_thumb.jpg

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
