Hey everyone, I just found this website and love is so far. I'm 3 1/2 weeks out and was given permission to start soft foods. I'm finding that my stomach just isn't happy with Breakfast. lunch and dinner are usually ok but I'm having trouble with breakfast. Not sure if I'm doing to much for dinner and it's effecting my breakfast. Other than that feeling good!!

Remember that it's normal to have a bit of a stall around the 3 week mark. The dreaded stall for your body to play catch-up. So put the scales away if it starts getting to ya.

But it's only been a week... That's the scary part

My doc told me to take the Fiber daily until I add veggies back into my diet if that helps. I am on much different diet than everyone else. I started purées on post op day 3. I start soft Proteins next Monday. It makes me feel like this isn't going to work. Like I love my dr and trust him, but I've literally cried over it to my husband that I'm already like eating food and a lot of people on here are still on liquids. I've been swallowing pain meds since my last day in the hospital. I'm just feeling like this isn't going to work.

Awww Glitter although there are different meal plans, each Dr is different!! I know you are going to do GREAT! :) How's the food going is it staying down? And believe me I am still on puréed Soups till Monday and I am dying for some scramble eggs!

Girls. I learned a valuable lesson today. Be kind to your abdomen. Baby it. For a long time. Cause one day, you might be putting on your boot, and then be in level 2000 pain. And you'll call your doc and talk to a nurse. She will then tell you it sounds like you probably pulled/ripped apart the muscles that are starting to heal and grow back together. And she'll ask you how bad the pain is, and your response will be: it hurts to even live right now.

Holy. Sh!t. I wasn't even in this much pain after surgery. I can't move and it hurts to breathe. Back to pain meds and at some point when I can move, the couch. Uggggg.

I was gonna finally drive today! :(

I know SJ, I was packing and I swear I hear something pop and it literally felt like I'd been stabbed. I gasped n fell back. Freaked my friend out. I couldn't catch my breath and I laid there holding my side. Today I had to see the doc and am now all codeined up. Even after the pain meds I can barely move. I kept saying I think I popped something open and crying like a baby to the doctor.

Hi everyone. Just wanted to give an update. I had surgery yesterday but they couldn't do it laparoscopic so they had to cut my belly. I won't get out of here till tomorrow or Sunday. My pain level is a manageable but up there.

Yup. Exactly how I felt. The pain meds (I took 20 ml even though the dose is supposed to be 15ml) have kicked in, and I don't care about a whole lot right now. Hahaha. I'm just afraid of what I'll feel like when they wear off. It hurt to even breathe. My poor dad was outside waiting to take me to my car. I called him inside, and basically cried and said fukk a lot. Haha. He felt so helpless. So did I though.

Oh well. I'm just glad I did it now and not next week when I HAVE to go to school.

Hi everyone, I am Angie and I had my surgery 2/11. I was pretty miserable until like 6 days after it, getting rid of the gas was so hard. I have a question, everything I have makes me burp right away. I sip Water, Protein Shake, Soup and all is the same. Is this normal?? Also I lost 17lbs but nothing in the last 3 days and that freaks me out. I am so glad I found this app, thanks

Hi Angie. I also had mine on 2/11. I lost the same amount and then stalled a few days. Then today was down another 2. I've been lucky to be off of work this whole time and going back to full time on Monday. I also burp a lot, but it seems to be getting less and less. For some reason I find the easiest thing to drink is Powerade zero calorie, fruit punch flavor. So much easier than drinking water and less burping.

Thanks :)

Food is staying down well. No real issues with eating. I'm allowed 4 oz max puréed Protein (I do 3 oz and don't always finish) three times a day plus I have to take in 64 oz fluids. I can't drink for 90 minutes after I take my first bite of food. That makes it hard to get my liquids in.

Omg!! Same thing happened to be today!!! I was at work sitting at my desk and I reached down to move my bag which gad gotten stuck under my chair and I heard "pop, pop, pop" followed by a few seconds of serious mind numbing pain. I called my dr thinking I ripped my staples out, she assured me that was next to impossible, thank god :). Now my stomach is really sore, not excruciating but tender. She said I might have ripped some internal stitches or the muscles that we're knitting. Seriously WTF!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
