Water Feels Like A Funnel Backing Up In My Throat

This might be premature worrying but I have been doing my best to get as much H20 in as possible. However, EVERYTIME I drink I will like my Fluid is backing up and then draining into my stomach. Is this normal? If so, when does it go away?

How far post-op are you? I am a week out and have similar sensation. it seems to be diminishing slightly though.

Hi there, I am 5 weeks out and am also having the same issue. Before the surgery I used to drink 64 ounces all the time easily a day. But I can barely get the Water in now because of that feeling. I am told it will go away but WHEN? Good luck to you and I hope it goes away sooner for you than it has for me. :)

I just saw the surgeon yesterday and they said that this will happen if you take too big a sip and take in too much air with the fluid. They said it will last for a while but should subside when all the swelling is gone from the surgery. Hope this helps...good luck!!

This was also happening to me (its slowly getting better. When I did my barium swallow they told me it was due to inflammation in the top portion of my sleeve and gave me a shot for it.

Thank you so much for that information. I am going to check with my surgeon too. I apparently had a hiatal hernia too and he said he fixed it while doing the sleeve. I am wondering if that has anything to do with it. It is very uncomfy.
