N E 1 been Banded at Mt. Carmel col, oh

Ok Banded pro's this is my first time posting , I would like to know if n e 1 has been banded in columbus, ohio at the Mt. Carmel hospital and if so how was your experience? I have just sent in my first set of paper work to be approve by their Dr. Also they are charging $300.00 for administrator fee (paper pushing to the Ins.), not to mention I will have to spend another $200.00 for their nutritionist and this $500.00 is not covered by my insurance:faint: . Are fee's normal? I was just wondering because I feel as much as the surgery cost, these things should be included! N E help would be nice

  • Hi, I don't want this to come out negative, but I'm concerned Sailor girl that you talk about being banded as the "last chance at life". I know we have to get really low with our weight out of contr

ND--have you been to the nutrition class where they give you the protein shake recipes? They will help with hunger while on liquids!

I am now a full fledge bandster. Thank You everyone for your replies. I will start walking in the next couple of days. A little sore right now and my port site has a hugh bruise, but other than that I am great.

Ndwife, Congrats on your B Day. Tell that nurse Patti I said Hello (one of the sisters). And to treat you nice. I am so happy to see other May Bandsters on here.

I was surprised and dissapointed not to see Dr. Choban the day after my surgery and if she ever came in the recovery room, I was not aware of it. I wanted to ask her when I should schedule my fill date. Another Doctor by the name of Dr. Osbourne came in the day of discharge. I hate when they do that as I had no prior knowledge of this Dr. and had no relationship established with him. I wanted to see the Dr. I had chosen for my surgery. OK....I have gotten out some of my bitterness!

Congrats Joy. I'm so glad you are home and feeling well.

NIki~ nothing yet :crying:. Who would have thought it would take 6 weeks for a cardio clearance?? I know I've not been praying for patience :confused2:.

Hi everyone-

Went to all of my pre-admission testing and my nutritional class today. It wasn't too bad. I was actually done with everything at 11:15 or so.

TM- call and find out what is going on. Whenever I have called the office, I always get a call back from Charlene. I would ask about what else is needed for insurance and what not.

Glad you can check that off of your pre-op list, ND!

TM--If you have learned one thing from us Mt Carmel people...let it be to call, call, call them!!!

I got a message from Charlene yesterday that said she still has not recieved my cardio clearance!!!!!!!! I called Dr. Beavers office and asked to speak with Kelly (his nurse) the MA said she was out of the office but would give me her voice mail AGAIN. I told her I didn't want a voice mail, I wanted to resolve this situation NOW. I explained to her that I had my appt ONE MONTH AGO, and I know for a fact the results have been in for 2 weeks, but for some unknown reason they are not being faxed to Charlene. She put me on hold to look for my chart. She found it ON KELLYS DESK and faxed it right then..... she said to call Charlene and see if she received it, but of course VOICE MAIL at Charlenes office!!!! So..... I am gonna call Charlene first thing Monday and see if its there....if not, I am taking a trip to Hilliard to hand carry it.

AAAGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! Why are people so unconcerned when its not about them??? :rolleyes2:

Congrats on the band Joy!

TM, hang on you're almost here. I remember well my frustration in getting here!:rolleyes2:

KTBugg~ it was so nice talking with you today. You are such a sweet and beautiful young lady.

OK friends, I have made a change in my plans...... I have decided to go with RNY instead of the band. I have a ton of reasons why, and I know that this is the best choice for me. I talked with Dr. Miller about it when I had my consult and I'm very comfortable with this choice. I hope this doesn't knock me out of the group..... I have grown to love you guys.

Thinner me don't be crazy once your in your in!!!!! Whatever your choice you are on your way toa better you! I am happy with my band finally cause the scale is actually moving. Went to 2 graduation parties yesterday and ate sooo much less than i would have and it felt good to be full after a small amount. It seems inconsistent though and i might be cursing it next week.

TM...you're one of us no matter what you choose!:D Keep us posted on how it all works for you with RNY. I have two friends that had that procedure and they have both done beautifully with it.
