New Here, And Just Starting This Journey

Recommended Posts

Hello,

My name is Erin. I am new to this site, and just starting out on this journey to the Gastric Sleeve. I have my first appointment with my surgeon next week, and am nervous, scared, and excited all at the same time. I have been heavy my entire life, but once I had 3 kids the weight just kept piling on and has been so hard to loose. I have thought about this surgery many many times, I even saw a surgeon and started going through clearances for the surgery about 2 years ago, but I dont know what it was that made me change my mind. I now realize that was a huge mistake! This is something that I need to do. I am going to be 30 years old in about a month, and some days feel like I am 70. I don't have the energy to do the things I need and want to do with my family. I have finally decided this is it, I have to do something about my weight. I have tried all of the different yo-yo diets, weight watchers, changing eating habits and excercising, but nothing seems to give me the results I need or want. It is time for a change. I am just so tired of not having the energy to do things with my kids. I am starting this journey at 299lbs (as of this morning), and hope to get down to 160. I live in New York, and am having my surgery done by Dr. Baiju Gohil at Syosset Hospital. I'm looking to make some friends on here along the way. :)

I've been getting ready for a few months started with a surgeon that only did RNY & band... Something kept pulling me back to the Sleeve...so I seen a new surgeon today, the office manager told me because I started the process with the other surgeon that I could get the surgery within weeks not months......I felt really comfortable with the surgeon I met today, my previous surgeon always seemed very busy. I've thought about WLS for years and would tell myself I should just finally get this weight off myself, quickly I realized my body would only allow me to lose 25-30 pounds and then slowly regain even with excessive exercise and low carb diet..... It works for a while but always SLOWLY creeps back on....... I'm thinking late December early January for me, maybe be can be across country buddies, I'm in Cali :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
