I will be going by my self, I chose to do it this way, A friend of mine went by herself and said she was fine no problems.

I went by myself and glad. I did. The nurses will get anything you need and then Abraham and Orlando will take you anywhere. Some ppl prefer to have others around them when they are feeling bad. I don't. You really only feel bad for the first 24hrs. And it's not even that bad. You will do fine.

I'm 8 days out and feel 95% back to myself. Absolutely zero side effects or complications.

They have a safe in your room that you can put everything in.

Phew, that makes me feel better! I am planning on staying a few extra days in California after my surgery to sightsee and relax so i will have my camera with me and extra money too and just wanted to make sure it will be safe :)

Also, how did u feel a few days after surgery? In pain and u just wanted to rest? Or were u ok moving around? Were you able to drive?

The first 24hrs is rough. You won't hurt bad but you will be tired and a little sore. By day 3 you will be comfortable moving around. They will remove your drain tube that night and THAT is the best. From then on you will be fine.

You can drive whenever you want. Just keep your luggage light bc you can't lift more than 15lbs.

hi bob,

I am planning to have surgery spring break or the summer.  I am considering Dr. Ortiz.  Are the facilities as they appear on the website?  Also, I am in the process of saving up my money for surgery and expenses.  Can you please share how much the surgery was in total and how much should I bring for expenses?  I am afraid I will not save enough...Thanks.

I am so confident in Dr Ortiz and Alighterme that I have no reservation about recommending them. My wife is on the borderline of needing this surgery and that is where we will go. My wife's insurance even covers it in The United States but we will still go to Ortiz.

I paid $4200 plus airfare. You really don't need much money when you get there. Everything you need is covered in The $4200. The ONLY thing I bought was protein drinks from GNC and a few Gatorade's from Wal Mart.

The facilities are as they appear. Mi Hospital is small but clean. The care you receive is very good. Dr Ortiz or Dr Hernandez will check on you several times a day in The hospital then at night at the Marriott. You will have Abraham or Orlando driving you and keeping you busy. They will also run errands for you if you need something. I can also say his patients do extremely well. We were all up hanging out and shopping on day 2.

Thanks for all the posts !! I will be having surgery Dec 4 with Dr e ortiz and all the infor received has helped alot.

I had the gastric sleeve April 5, 2013 with Dr. Ortiz.  I have lost 65 pounds so far.  The first 50 came off fast just like he said it would within like 2-3 months.  I have been eating whatever i want just in smaller portions so i need to go back to the 800 calories a day and exercise and i will start losing again.  I went through A Lighter Me. Everything went great bring gas x strips and loose clothes and if you travel alone you will feel very safe at the Marriott Tijuana.  It was very nice.  MI hospital was nice and they take good care of you there. Any questions please ask! I would recommend going and it's definately worth it :)

Thanks for all the information I leave in one day to get surery with a lighter me!!! cant wait you have all hepled to make this the right thing to do for me

I'm having surgery with dr. E. Ortiz on January 6, 2014. I will be traveling alone so this post really helped me with my fears. Anyone else going alone on the same day. I would love a surgery buddy. I'm leaving out on 01-05-2014.

I was sleeved on Nov 15 by Dr. Ortiz and his assistant Dr. Morales. I went alone. I had absolutely no problems at all. The Dr. is qualified, the hospital is clean, and the nurses trained. Overall it was not a bad experience at all. The hotel is awesome. I was never afraid. I have lost 19 pounds so far. I would recommend Dr. Ortiz and a lighter me to anyone. I want to take my daughter this year to have the sleeve done. It was the smartest decision of my life. I am on my way to healthy new me.

Thanks for the post I leave tomarrow!!! to start my new way of life. I am the same weight as you, so I hope I do as well as chamblem. I am having the gastris sleeve. It really make me feel that I have made the right chose
