Burping & Tightness

Recommended Posts

I've had my band for going on 18 months and I can honestly say it was one of the best decisions of my life but lately...

I am a burping machine and in silence my stomach is like a full orchestra with noises that are kind of unnerving, never painful or even uncomfortable at all just.., noisy. Also I cannot stop burping! Cannot! Little ones, big ones just constant and sometimes they make me feel better but sometimes they are just epic and untimely if you catch my drift. I have been considering a slight unfill but as I have done so well (started at 290 now 185 for several months) to say I'm not a little chicken would be a lie. I now have a life where I did not. I work better I feel tremendously better and have waaaaaay more energy. Just kinda spooked. I have had short periods over this journey that I feel extra tight but they have always passed. This has been going on for a bit now and has now progressed to PBing which I NEVER had. Strange thing is that I had my last fill probably 6months ago (7cc in a 14cc band) and have maintained my weight loss to the pound for about the last 5months. Doing great otherwise but after having a healthy smoothie I burped a good deal of it up. Sorry for the tmi but grrrrr! Somebody throw me a bone. Probably will end up getting 1/2 cc unfill but the timing is just very odd

Congratulations on your success! It does sound like you might need a small unfill. I hope you'll post again about how things go for you. I think a lot of us could learn from your experience.

Hello hello :)

Whenever you are becoming atypically symptomatic, considering an unfill is the way to go :)

However, you'd be amazed how much a smidge of an unfill can do. The closer to green you get, the lesser amount of fill or unfill you need for major results. Even 0.1-0.3cc can release the stoma enough to allow better passage. And if you are gassy at least it can pass in one pass and not a zillion little ones that last all day long hahahah.

Woops forgot to add, if you are gassy, perhaps a change in diet would help to. We all know spicy food and things like Beans cause gas, but did you know these do too: (From UMICH)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
