Pre-Op Falling Out!

Recommended Posts

I am on day 3 of my pre-op diet. I've been struggling with fatigue, body aches, debilitating headaches and today while at work I fainted. Not sure what's going on. I've been doing 3 shakes per day, along with a little G2, fresh spinach and vinaigrette for dinner. What am I doing wrong?

You're not doing anything wrong. This is all normal. I had the same things during my pre op diet and on day 5-6 I finally began to feel better. It's your body detoxing from sugar and processed foods.

I took lots of hot baths to make it threw mine.

Good luck!

I also don't think you're doing anything wrong. You may call the office and let a nurse know that you are having those symptoms just so they can be aware and tweak if they feel necessary, but as the previous poster said, it's mostly your body detoxing from the lack of simple carbs and re-training itself to use the fat deposits in the liver as a source of energy. Hence the shrinking of the liver which is the whole point of this pre-op diet.

I had a lot of stomach cramps, nausea, cravings, headaches, and complete lack of energy for the first 3-4 days of my pre-op diet. I am on day 6 today and can honestly say things have much improved. I hope you get there soon, too!

I would say to call the doctors office as we'll just to let them know so they are aware. I am five weeks post op (down 50 pounds :-) ) and I didn't have those symptoms. Are you taking Vitamins as prescribed and getting in all the the Protein and liquids? You'll be okay, it's a hell of a journey but we'll worth it!!!

I'm there with you (day 6); I thought it was my diabetes but then I read about what's called Keto Flu or Carb flu--it's exactly what I've been experiencing. I've felt like death warmed over and last night I thought there is no way I can keep this up. Today is a better day--not as good as normal but able to function. Good luck on your surgery!

Yesterday was rough. I want to thank everyone for the reassurance. It's scary to think that I almost broke my nose with my fall, but somewhat reassuring to know this is all part of the process. I'm hoping for a better day today.

Today is day 4, so by tomorrow you should be feeling better and then continually better each and every day from then until the surgery!

You can do this!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
