Glad to find this site. Newbie surgery in two weeks!

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I am glad to have found this site. I am scheduled for a RNY in about 2 weeks. I go for my preop visit one week from today. I have had a weight problem all my life. My first diet was my mother bringing me to Weight Watchers at age 8. I am so tired of this battle and how I feel that I have allowed many things in life to slip by as I made excuses for why I wasn't doing certain things. I am tired of living a lie..yes, there are things I want to do, and look forward to at least having the ability to participate in. I am not saying that I really would sky jump, but by golly I will have that option. Besides being healthier, and looking better I am ready to start living again. Life has been on hold for too long, and my weight has dictated my opportunities too much. Look forward to watching others blossom as well... so my journey begins.

Congratulations! I perfectly understand how you feel. I had always been on the side line too. I remember going to my children parent teacher conference and not sitting because I was afraid the chair would break.

I had my surgery on July 31st. I cant tell you how happy I am about this. When I saw my surgeon for the 1 st time on June 12 my weight was 328, I didnt have to do a 2 week liquid diet. Two weeks ago weighted 257.2. I have gone from a 4x to 1x and still blushing from the compliments.

I am not going to lie and tell you it was easy and a smooth path. I had no complication; however the changes have been very drastic and difficult to adjust. But worth every single one of them.

Best of luck and please keep us updated.

Good Luck on your journey B! I hope to have my surgery by the end of this year or beginning of next. There are so many things I am looking foreward to being able to do. I want to wear a cute bathing suit next summer for the first time since high school. I want to be able to go up the flight of stairs at work without getting winded. I want to dress like a solid gold dancer on halloween (silly I know), I want to actually enjoy to go clothes shopping. I want to run the Disney half marathon. And I want to feel better most of all.

Keep posting on your journey. I can't wait to Celebrate your victories!

Oh, I almost forgot, I want to break up with my CPAP and my asthma inhaler. May not be able to break up with the inhaler totally but I would love to give it the cold shoulder!! :)

Oh dear you have a million things to look forward too! I have discovered that I do have bones and a neck, that I can bend and walk without getting brethless. That I can sleep on my stomach. My feet are smaller, my knees dont hurt. All of my clothes are huge on me. Even my menstrual cycle is painless. Its a new me in just almost 3 months.

The divorce is with my CPAP, not my wonderful hubby. Just wanted to make it clear. LoL.

I am just ready to feel better and sleep better. Looking better is just an added bonus.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
