I agree on the different taste PackerGrl! i just started the full liquids phase and that's not too exciting either. I can stand the same flavor for quite some time, but I'll be honest.. all this talk about pureeing regular foods makes me feel nauseous. When I get to soft foods, I will just stick to regular soft foods that are soft and smooth all on their own. I don't mind pureeing certain Soups, but when it comes to things like meats and chicken, that is something I can't stomach! But you go to all the girls that are getting crafty with the meals!

No more!! Hey!! Just got home yesterday evening. Feel pretty good. I guess I need milk of magn. How r u in that dept? I am not happy there!!! :(. :(

It's interesting how varied post-op diet instructions are from Surgeon to surgeon! My surgeon and dietician have a fairly clear program- first 24 hours- nothing at all by mouth. Second 24 hours, ice chips only. Day 3 Clear liquids. Days 4-5 the same bariatric clear and full liquids as pre-op diet (but with the obvious extreme volume limitations and go SLOW). Day 6 is beginning of "bariatric soft"- including puréed. Stay there until day 14 when VERY soft and well-chewed "solids" are slowly introduced.

But back to the OP- some ideas I have pre-assembled for the soft/purée stage:

I cooked a big pan of beef & vegetable stock a few days pre-op, used a hand blender to liquids it after many hours of simmering. Let it cool, then skimmed the fat layer off, strained the solids (mostly beef) and separated it all into small freezer containers. Have already used some stock for flavor (and made a small batch if grits with it- quite tasty). I plan to reintroduce beef using the beef solids from my stock prep. Using the broth for moisture. I figure this can be added to a lot of stuff for Protein, texture, flavor, and easing in to meats.

Other ideas I have heard and will probably try- pretty much any Soup can be puréed and work pretty well.

I think I'm going to be quite thankful for the hand blender we received for Christmas a couple years ago!

What's funny- pre-op, I was really looking forward to the puréed foods and reintroducing solids. Now- just a few days post-op, it doesn't sound so great.

I do miss cheeses and am looking forward to those!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
