do not dismay. you may be having some buyer's remorse. you said your 6 weeks out right?

here are some tips:

*track your drinking on something like myfitnesspal. it helps to see how many calories all those drinks add up to.

*go and talk to your surgeon. i went to my surgeons office when my weight loss was at a stall and it really helped to go see them they will help you figure out if your stomach has actually stretched. my understanding is that it can only stretch so much, and never back to its original size. my surgeon does not believe that liquids stretch out the stomach.

* youve had amazing weight loss! be grateful.

* i agree that counseling may be of great help to you. it helps me with food issues and body image issues.

* as far as the hair loss is concerned-- this is temporary. I know have frustrating this can be. it will stop. i lost about a 1/3 of my volume and no one noticed but me.

* and never forget "Bullshit thyself not" (my motto)

best of luck to you. glad you are reaching out for help.

Im posting this on another account (because my "identity" was compromised) but I actually remember talking to you Laura...and I remember you specifically telling me that once you move to full-foods its harder to eat. It was for the first week but it is nothing, anymore.

Thing is Laura is correct. You are suppose to eat your Proteins first and you WILL get full quicker. Instead it sounds like you are eating crap. You still have to stick to the program. If you really want it to work for you then I would suggest opening a different browser and searching for a shrink that can truly help you then pick up a phone and make an appointment....Bitching about your poor choices here is not going to help you long term.

@Tink 22, no I am more like 3 months out now, maybe more around 4.

* How can my surgeon tell whether or not my stomach has streched without opening me up?

* Does hair fall out, regardless of whether or not you take Vitamins?

* Im in counseling right now but I feel like I cant be open to her, because she will think of me binge eating as an act of self-harm which it isnt. And then she will want to talk to my mom about it, or have me talk to my doctors which Im not comfortable about it!!!

Indecision,

I am eating crap. I mean sometime Im not. My diet as of late has consisted largely of ground beef, rice, and eggs. Usually put together in various proportions. Easy to make, easy to package, easy to take to school. I dont know how to cook so it doesnt help....

Have you tried shellfish (shrimp, lobster etc) or chicken? More dense than eggs for sure.

I have read about something called mushy foods syndrome. Sounds like you are eating too much mushys and not enough dense.

ETA: Get a george forman grill. You can make just about anything on it and it requires almost zero cooking skill.

I can't cook worth a ****! Ask my husband! :P

I boil a chicken every week and eat off that..

Or you can buy or roast a chicken easy!

A box of Cereal??? I could eat one too if I tried. Or a bag of chips or a quart of ice cream (get the idea) :) I have to CHOSE not to.

Is it hard for me? f**k ya! Harder than you can imagine...

But if I do what I'm supposed to (which is eat Protein and veggies) I'm full and satisfied.

Oh man and if I eat crap? I just want more and more...

A george foreman grill sounds nice, but I have no idea when things would be done. I had a scare the first time I cooked chicken via stove (put butter-Pam on it) and wasnt sure when it was done or not. I dont have the expenses to do a lot of things so beef, rice and eggs are all cheap..

So Laura you're saying you can (right now) physically eat a box of Cereal? See I thought the whole point of the sleeve was for you to NOT be able to do that!

Unfortunately for me, Im living by myself so I dont have a husband (or in this case..a wife or s/o) that can cook me food :P

You just cut it in half and look to see if the middle looks pink. If there is no pink, it is done. :) Easy as can be.

OP- only YOU can decide if you have a problem with alcohol. The reason we are all picking up on that is because it is fairly common to see an alcohol problem emerge after WLS. It seems to me that alcohol is very important to you. That doesn't necessarily mean you have a problem with it. But consider also, if it is not a 'problem', then it shouldn't be a problem to give it a rest for a while. I must tell you that I, personally, am a recovering addict with over 3 years free of drugs or alcohol. When we are having trouble succeeding, we have to look at our self-destructive behaviors which may be contributing to our failures. I wish you much success and hope you can get some assistance to help you get on track.

And by the way I remember you... You need to come out. Don't be scared of your mother finding out.. You need help. The binging is self sabotage and you are harming yourself. You need to tell your therapist these things. AND she is beholden under law not to tell your mother!

I did that but when I had cooked it, it tasted rubbery. tasted perfect, but the chicken my mom always made tasted like really dry and tough. Not a bad thing, just two different textures, and the only time I have had "rubbery" chicken was like...at a fast food place (PRE-surgery.....cut me slack) when I would get chicken tenders.

It makes me happy that you remember me. Im scared because my mom has anxiety disorder and will want to do everything in her power to get me back home. I'm going to PM you for the sake of my "identity".

First off.

1. Admit you have a problem

2. Do something about it.

3. Stop justifying your wrong choices

Or.. Blame it all on your sleeve (and not yourself) and concede to failure

Sincerely,

Reality

I've not tried... But I've binged on tortilla chips and yes ate a good part of the bag..

I am a food addict, I binge in secret.. I go to therapy. And I'm working on it. MOST days I am successful...

The sleeve doesn't work that well with slider foods obviously cereal is a slider to you. Just like chips are with me.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
