So this is my last weekend being "me"

Recommended Posts

So I go in Wednesday morning (10/30) to have my sleeve done...the liquid diet wasn't too bad but now I start the Clear Liquids tomorrow. What kind of Protein can I get for the clear liquid diet?

Next thing I want to know is, does anyone have the leg massagers that prevent blood clots and would like to donate them to me? :) I'm so serious about it. Aetna decided now that they don't cover them and more. Next question is the pain and the nausea...what should I be prepared to deal with?

You'll still be you. I had no nausea and little discomfort. If you have a BMI OVER 50, you might need Lovenox, but let your MD worry about clots (Do you have a history of clots)

On Clear Liquids don't worry about food value, you are just cleaning out your GI tract.

Best of luck.

I was sleeved last Monday. The one thing I have learned is every person is different. I have a very low tolerance for pain. Yet, my pain has been very minimal and I have had absolutely no nausea. The only thing I have struggled with is gas pain and getting my liquids in. So far this morn, all I've had is about 8 oz of liquid.< /p>

I'm had mine done last Monday, 10/21. I'm really struggling with enough intake of fluids and Protein. Every cream based Soup makes me nauseous! What is current full liquid diet consist of?

I'm on hearty Soups still and I do 1 1/2 Protein shakes a day (maybe) and Greek yogurt. Thanks to Mio drops it hasn't been that hard to do the "liquid diet" so to speak because I can drink as much of that as I want and be ok :) thanks everyone for the feed back because I have a co-worker that had the sleeve and compares it to having a c-section

I have found that post op, I am more me than ever before. I never knew how much my size, my weight, my food addiction and my obsession with diet was masking who I really am. Just like the weight, it all slowly crept up on me muting the real me very slowly but in a very real way.

Now I wake up every morning ready to be out in the world, thrilled to pick a pretty outfit instead of whatever will mask whichever body part I'm obsessing over, not fixated on where I might eat (or avoid if I am doing WWs, Atkins, fat free, etc.), not worried if my hair isn't perfect because God knows I needed something to detract from the size of my ass, wanting to be SEEN by people instead of hoping I didn't run into someone I haven't seen in months...I could go on for ages.

I liked the fat me for who I was on the inside. I was always confident and happy. Now, though, I am thrilled with ME and the excitement I have as I evolve into a new, healthier being is just overflowing into obnoxious giddiness. Every minute of the day....

And the boots? I am claustrophobic and refused them. (After my brain surgery, I felt chained to the bed because of them and I suffered many panic attacks in an already sucky situation.)

I didn't sleep at all in the hospital. Instead, I walked all night. I had to be on my feet moving for at least 30 minutes of every hour which was the alternative to the boots. I was happy to do it.

And this here is how I feel...I never knew how "big" I was till I started losing weight lol I guess it's the support system that I have that still considered me to be sexy, beautiful, cute or whatever to even notice I'm 339 lol. But after losing 10 lbs it's not that I truly see it being gone but when I got on the scale I damn near cried. I was elated to see the weight loss and then I was even more motivated to do my liquid diet and stick to it.

Oh, I can tell you, I'm definately NOT getting in my liquid or my Protein. My days consist of beef broth, Protein shake that takes me all day to drink, tea, Water. I keep trying different things. One thing I did for first few days was i drained the broth from Campbells chicken Noodle and Vegetable Beef Soup. At the time, it was soooo good.

I was sleeved on Oct 14th. I feel mostly great! My top 2 life savers have been Isopure ready to drink. 40 grams of Protein per 20 oz bottle. Tastes like institutional kool-aid. (like the kool-aid guy doesn't have the big smile he's just like "meh") It's not so bad. They have all kinds of flavors.... apple-melon, fruit punch, passion fruit, green tea w/lemon, mango peach, grape, etc. Much better option than the vanilla chocolate stinky stuff. I fill a large cup with ice and drink on this all day. ***I set a reminder on my cell phone to ping me every 15 minutes to remind me to hydrate*** My 2nd life saver is Unjury chicken. Tastes like chicken oodles of noodles ramen w/o the noodles. I have been able to get in just about all of my liquid and protein every day.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
