I'm new here, but decided to get plugged in because I scheduled my VSG TODAY for 11/6/3! I was so excited when I got the call from the surgeon's office that my insurance had faxed approval! I hadn't even gotten a letter in the mail, and they just submitted everything last week! No complaints here!
I was a little nervous to tell my employers that I would be out, but they took it very well! I did not tell them what surgery I was having. Just that it was a laparoscopic procedure and that I would need 2-3 weeks off (my job is quite physical).
So a little about me... I'm 29, married to a very sweet, supportive man, and we have a sweet dog named Charlie. I have always struggled with my weight. I have worked hard to reach my professional goals, and now I want to reach my personal goals. I think the VSG is just the tool I need to help me be the healthiest me I can be!
My husband and I tried getting pregnant for more than a year, and we ended up seeing a fertility specialist. There were no major issues with either of us, but my cycles we very irregular. He told my my PCOS could definitely be secondary to my obesity. Both of my parents have had great success with gastric bypass surgery, but I never really considered it for myself until after 3 months of fertility treatment with no success. I have tried many diet/exercise programs in the past, but I have never been able to keep the weight off...in fact I would always gain the weight back and then some! I was tired of the cycle! I was tired of not feeling healthy or pretty. I am ready for a life change, and I am ready to work for it! Look forward to getting to know all of you better! Thanks for reading!
