Frustrated: Light-headed and constant stalls - what could be wrong?

Recommended Posts

Im 10 weeks out - only lost 29 lbs total (yes, I know thats alot more than I would without the surgery, but its still not alot considering I had surgery). I feel lightheaded many times throughout the day, everyday.

  • Water is still hard for me - I get about 55 oz of my 64 required oz a day
  • I get about 70g of protrein on average
  • Calories are around 800 - food goes down easily, but I stick to 5 - 4oz meals a day
  • I take a 30 min walk about every other day or so

So yes, more Water, more Protein, more exercise, but could that small of a deficit be causing my constant stalls and lightheadedness? Has anyone else had these issues?

Help and advice please, no ridiculing - Im having a hard enough time keeping my head up right now. Thanks!

TvlGrl, are you on any kind of meds that may need to be adjusted? Don't get discouraged, i lose weight slowly too but it does come off, I see from your ticker that you are one of the "smaller people" that has had WLS, I was about the same as you and my Doc called me a light weight(a light weight at 248lbs Ha!!) Some of the people here started at weights much higher so naturally they will lose a lot of weight at first, then it kind of evens out. If you're not on any meds you may want to talk to your Doc about the light-headeness. I was on blood pressure meds and nearly passed out from them my pressure got to low. Now I don't take any of them.

No, no meds - just Vitamins. I think I will talk to the docs...

I wonder if u are getting enough salt. Try squatting down for a minute and then stand up. If u get lightheaded and ur vision blacks out a bit... then eat something like chicken broth or something really salty. It happens to me a lot and that always seems to help. Get in some G2 Gatorade too. Electrolytes could be low. I was lightheaded for months.

I do drink small G2 everyday, but I'll try the broth. Thanks!

I'm 3 months out and have lost 34 lbs. I've stalled at least 3 times for 12+ days each time and I am doing my Water Protein, walking/biking and less than 700 calories. I started at 230 lbs and am 195 now. It can get frustrating but we may just need to be patient. You're doing all the right things. Just keep at it, and maybe set your expectations differently. I've stopped reading the "I lost 80 lbs in 10 weeks" threads. They just dishearten me.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
