I will do my best to be brief but I have so much on my heart right now! First I must give honor to my lord and savior, for without him, I know I wouldn't have come this far on this journey.

My journey begins in 1996 when I was pregnant with my one and only child. She was due Aug 21, 1996 and I found out on that day, that she had passed away. She was still born. My mother says that was the turning point in my life. She says, I already didn't have the benefit of chasing a child around or being on the go to care for child to assist with some of the weight loss, but to add in depression simply put me in a position to gain weight. I only saw doom and unhappiness in my future.

Prior to my pregnancy, I was athletically built. I played basketball, ran track, swam, walked and had a very active social life. After the death of my child, all of those things came to a screeching halt. I would lose 25lbs, gain 30lbs back, lose 20lbs, gain 35lbs back. This dance has been going on literally since 1996. This roller coaster kept me depressed. I haven't had a meaningful relationship since the father of my child. I have always felt like everyone in my life was living life and I was simply watching from the side lines....UNTIL 2010

I was working a job that I loved, but wasn't getting paid for the work that I was doing. I loved my job but money was so tight. Then my paid off car died on the highway one day. I was so calm about this situation that my mother thought I might be having a nervous breakdown. However, the reality was I'd finally given my situation to God. I'd gotten to a place where things were so far out of my control that I had no where else to turn but God. I decided he knows what I need because I talk to Him daily. He will make it happen.

My prayers were to increase my pay, be surrounded by people that were positive, help me make healthier choices as it pertains to eating, and to find a church home that could teach me. God gave me all of those things from October 2010 beginning with a new car to February 2011 with a new job and the blessings have kept coming from there.

This history is key to my journey because this journey is not a weight loss journey, is a faith and prayer journey. I tried to get lapband and didn't understand why I couldn't make it happen at that time. I was more than qualified those many years ago, but until I began to embrace God's order, I wasn't going to understand.

Today, February 14, 2014, I received best Valentine's Day gift from the number one suitor of all times. I got my Gastric Sleeve approved! That's right, my faith, prayers, and praises have been answered. My Bishop prophesied to me about a few things about 7months ago, long before I had my first doctor's visit in October. Because this is a weight loss site, I will simply say, this is not the only prophecy that has come to pass. This Bishop of mine also teaches us the power of the tongue. How it's important to speak life into every situation, how we should speak things into existence. Again, I will say, this is not the only thing that I have spoken into existence.

I leave you with this....My God is a greater and almighty. It has only been in His time when I have grown, matured and learned the things I needed to learn to make this new journey a successful one.
