Is it legal to strangle someone while on the liquid diet?

Today is day 7 of my pre op liquid diet. Today is also my birthday. I have actually had little appetite the last couple of days, so I thought I would get through pretty well. Sure, there is a small side of me that misses being able to celebrate my birthday with food. But I have had 43 birthdays that were celebrated that way, one without will not kill me. ( next year I plan to EAT-just healthy!) Anyway lunch rolls around and I am starting to be a bit peckish. It is raining and cold here and my co-workers did not want to go out for lunch. I was prepared with a can of cream of chicken soup, but I have had that quite a bit this past week. They decided to order in from a local restaurant that delivers. I had them check what soups they had and found they had a roasted squash that was creamy. When asked if it was good, the girl on the other end of the phone said it "tasted like Thanksgiving". Mouth watering I ordered a bowl of it. My co-workers ordered chicken wings, loaded baked potato soup and salad. ( This place has the BEST salads!) When it came we dug in and I couldn't wait. Until I opened the lid off my soup....UGH The smell was reminiscent of dirty feet!! I tasted a bite and it didn't seem bad, at first. The more I ate thought the more the smell got to me. I tried to hold my breath and swig it down, but the aftertaste of "wet sock" was left in my mouth. I barely got through half of it and gave up. Luckily I had some sf jello here and finished lunch with that, all the while smelling the yummy odor of wings. Then a coworker, a girl who is insensitive at best, ( mostly a b**ch!) started going on and on about how GREAT her lunch was. My other coworkers told her to hush, knowing my soup didn't work out. Then the insensitive girl goes "well you are going to be skinny, so it is worth it!". Easy for her chubby self to say! Yes, it is worth it. Yes, I will be happy and healthy for my sacrifice now. Yes I will get through it all. .. But at that moment I wanted to wring her chicken wing eating neck!!!!

I think there are laws in most municipalities that would allow you to choke her out, but not strangle.

I am in the same boat. Just started pre op shake diet 3 days ago. So far I am pretty hungry about 3 hours after my shake (new directions 27gm protein). I drink broth and crystal litel in between. Oh and I have also quit smoking almost 2 weeks ago!! Good thing I spaced them out a little. I was joking with my manager yesterday, "I quit smoking, and I'm on a liquid diet, so don't eff with me." She was like, "hide yo wife, hide yo children!" We are all gettin a good laugh out of my journey!

Wow, I wouldn't convict you if you strangled her.

Sadly, some people are just clueless. But stay focused on the big goal. After you're back on foods you're going to look back at this time as a blip on the radar. It only feels like time is dragging out. I had to go through the same thing and being on the other side, it was totally worth it.

Stay strong and just ignore the insensitive girl.

Seriously a good lawyer would probably get you off on temp insanity. Just saying. lol

I hear ya! I am on day 11 of 14 on the liquid diet. I lost my sanity around day four but came out of it within a couple days. Luckily no one was harmed :)

Hang in there! We're in this together!

Along the same lines...Last night as I was telling my parents about my surgery and liquid diet to be started in two weeks, and concerns/stresses, my dad (who is not overweight and is in great shape) said, "Did I show you these new cookies I found?" Then proceeded to bring me one (yes, I ate it).

The look on my mom's face was priceless! She was fasting because she was scheduled for a colonoscopy the following day. I shrugged.

You could put a piece of raw meat somewhere in her personal space after a few days it will begin to smell, maybe she will lose her appetite for tourture :) don't get mad get even!

Of course you can wring her chicken neck .... you would be putting her out of her misery cos she sounds like a right miserable besom ...

But I love mazzers120's suggestion - I would adapt it by making it little pieces of fish and spreading it around her, including taping it to the underside of her seat. When it gets smelly, you walk by spraying air fresher and just looking at her without saying a word....

I feel your pain. When I was at work, it was bad because my sense of smell seemed to be heightened while on my preop diet, and people would come next to me and chew and I was so annoyed by the smells. Also, I felt like strangling my boyfriend last night. Nothing was on tv after the Dodger game and he channel surfs to where- the Food network!! I'm like a week away from being able to have pureed foods, but damn! Do you really think I want to watch the Rib shack talk about how amazing his rib tips and brisket are and how delicious his BBQ sauce is? To his credit, he hasn't been eating anything but soup in solidarity in front of me, but he just left an hour ago and can only imagine what he's shoving in his face right this moment :) I totally think temporary insanity would get any of us off the hook.
