Best surgeon in Mexico for a reasonable price? Ignore my previous post, i hit post too early

I had my surgery in the states but now my boyfriend wants it. I'm clueless when it comes to Mexico surgeons. I has heard good things about Dr Aceves, but learned last night he charges 8700$!! We could do it in the states for 3k more than that. So, please help guide me. I am clueless and want a good surgeon for my boyfriend in a nice hospital and nice hotel and everything included, within a reasonable price....6k max. Is that too much to ask for? Should I go a different route? Please help.

I have been sleeve yesterday morning with Dr Rodriguez I'm having the best service in the hospital ' date='with Dr Rodriguez and with belite weight!!! I'm happy I went with them: )[/quote']

I'm glad to see you're on the losers bench now. Dr Rod and Elmo are wonderful. BeLiteWeight and JoAnne are fantastic. Youll see....... they follow up with you and give you the best possible care. Do exactly as they say and you'll stay healthy and become the best you ever! Enjoy the Jello....broth....tea....and popsicles. Lol soon you'll be back to food but you'll never eat the same again. Congratulations!

I'm with Dr Ortiz at OCC in TJ November 12th and his credentials speak for themselves. He has even taught bariatrics at Yale part time haha. I find that impressive anyway. It said in my contract I'm not allowed to discuss prices an so I won't but you should check him out' date=' his coordinators as super helpful and patient with all your questions and they aren't pushy salesmen types either. I asked lots of questions before setting a date and they never harassed or spammed my email with ploys to get me to sign up. Carolyn is awesome. Also my dad is coming with me and he gets to stay at the Marriott while I'm in the hospital free of charge (it's included in the package). All around I'd recommend him.[/quote']

Agreed OCC is the best. I had my surgery 10/21 and they handle everything; transportation in & out of Mexico and to & from the hospital, all hotel reservations, and meals at your hotel. The doctors and facilities are top notch (even include direct contact information for the doctors). I had concerns about going to TJ for surgery but the parts that you are in felt like it could have been another suburb in LA and you really are escorted through the whole process. During your stay your driver will meet you by the front door of the Marriott and stays with you until he hands you off at the OCC reception desk. The hotel was very nice and the staff is very helpful.

I am having my surgery on Dec 6th by Almanza. I have heard nothing but good things about his surgeries... also I know 4 people who have used him personally and all are doing great. My surgery is $4199. Everything included except airfare.... if you would like to talk to me PM me and I will give you more info.... my coordinator is Reyna and she is awesome. They have already done everything for my leave for work and all. Very highly recommended around my area.

Thank you for that. I will look into the other surgeons that others recommended. Do you happen to have any you favor?

Have you looked into Dr Alvarez. Go to his YouTube videos..he also has a radio obesity chat..over 5,000 surgeries..go see him and his patients!! Endobariatric.com!! Good luck!!!

I think if you do you're research you will find there are 4 or 5 excellent surgeons we would recommend in MX. Not there aren't more, but there are a good top five being highly recommended here.

Laura- Dr Armanza's office actually just called me telling me what they offer. Is that not a good route? I didn't get a good vibe when you put the hospital in parenthesis. Please explain. :)

I am just out from Dr Alvarez with endobariatric. Go to his you tubes they're are very informative. He is awesome, even helps people with problems he didn't do! Cost 8,700. I am thrilled with the guy and staff. Go to endobariatric.com. There is a thread on him too if you check.. Good luck!!

A couple of years ago I started researching VSG in Mexico & I called Dr. Almanza's coordinator, started asking questions, then felt a little strange about the conversations & also reading online that his "hospital" is in a strip mall. I furthermore felt strange when the coordinator called ME trying to arrange a surgery date! so anyway, I'm not saying he isnt a great doctor, Im just paying more money & using Dr Alvarez. His website is very informative, his coordinator is very helpful but not pushy. He was also listed in Newsweek magazine as a top bariatric surgeon. His expertise is worth spending a little more on, in my opinion.

I was sleeved on Sept 3rd and can only go by my personal experience and must say that I am so thankful to have chosen Dr Alvarez and his team. Being an RN for the past 26 years I researched surgeons in both the US and Mexico for almost 2 years before finally settling with Dr Alvarez in Piedras Negras MX.

Dr Alvaraz will be with you every step of the way and will never let the ball drop if you have complications. From the hospital, the hospital staff, Dr Alvarez's support staff, and his surgery team, Dr Salinas, Dr Rosales and Dr Garza you will be treated like family and taken care of from your first inquiry, through your hospital stay, discharge and beyond. Everything is taken care of so even if you come alone you will never be alone. Dr Alvarez and his team will stop in several times per day to check on you and they have patient advocates who speaks perfect English which are on the floor checking on you throughout each shift.

While this location was much farther from my home and cost was more then several other surgeons in MX I am so happy and thankful to have chosen and gone with this great team. If anyone has any specific questions please feel free to send me a pm.

I could not agree more! Dr. Alvarez is the best. I was sleeved Sept 27. 2013. I'm down 60 pounds and I feel great. I don't feel like I've had surgery. I'm not obsessing over food. I'm not worried about what I'm eating next or the next Monday to come to start a new diet. Just wished I would have done it sooner!

S Barbie, are you losing any hair yet? I am doing fantastic and so very happy, I feel so good. I agree, on the Monday what is my diet today. At 60 lbs I am just wondering when you noticed your hair thinning..and were there any bald spots?

No hair loss yet. Knock on wood. People are finally starting to notice. In the last few days I've have numerous people wanting to know what diet I was on. I have no problem telling then about my sleeve. They usually all have questions about it. Glad your doing well!!!!

Have to tell you I am quite nervous about the hair loss thing. Theonlythingi have heard is to try to keep it at 90 gr of protein.. I dunno. When were u sleeved? Mine was nov 12!! So I am a newbie!! Congrats on your wt loss!!!

I also used Dr. Garcia and Ready4Achange. My surgery cost was $4630.00 because I only stayed 2 nights at the Marriott. The hospital they use is florence Oasis. I had no pain and no real discomfort after my surgery. The staff is very attentive and all of the doctors on his team are amazing. After I returned home, I found the doctors on his team excellent at getting back to me with any questions or concerns that I had. There are a lot of amazing doctors in Mexico. I belong to many private Facebook groups and I hear a lot. Of the good ones, I hear Dr. Quinones is great, as well as Dr. Aceves. With the amount of surgeries they do, there are going to be some complications. One name I hear a lot of when it comes to negative comments is Dr. Almanza. I have heard him referred to as the "Butcher". That is one I would definitely steer clear of. I am sure there are other posts on here about him. Good luck!
