Hey guys!

Just a couple of questions. I had a bit of chocolate on Easter weekend (4 Hershey kisses) and then had diarrhea the next day (Saturday). Since then I've had bouts of diarrhea and I've lots about 4lbs. I've been eating but way below my Protein intake. I have been getting my Water in though. I've noticed that where my stomach is now is a bit sensitive. Like I can feel it and I'm more aware of it. Does that make sense? It could just be the stomach flu and that my stomach is sensitive but just wondering if anyone else has the same symptoms?

Fostermama:

I have had dark chocolate (two small squares) with no problem. It sounds like you have a flu. Hope you feel better fast :)

I'm surprisingly slipping into 10s which is insane to me -- had to pull up my 12 jeans all day today even tho I had a belt on --- this is nuts nuts nuts to me I've never been this slim for this long as an adult ...it's really like a new life. Sadly now people pay attention to me, they ask me questions more and want to know more about me, I've also had people make fat jokes about others in front of me thinking I will get in on it too having know clue about my past morbid obese size and misery. I've never been called pretty and beautiful as much as I do these days and it really is so foreign .... I get shocked when people tell me you look good or ur so slim ...it's like I have to turn around and look for the person they are really talking about ......down 85+since October and about 62 since surgery on 121213

Hello fellow Dec Sleevers!! I was sleeved on Dec 11th.. Starting weight was 253, current weight is 181, lost 72lbs so far. I am currently in my 3rd week stall… feeling frustrated but keeping positive!!! Think I am gonna do nothing but Protein Shakes this weekend… to kinda shake things up…. I wore a pair of super skinny jeans yesterday (I felt so self conscious – still working on my body image in my brain..) but all day long my co-workers called “skinny Minnie” it really was a boost in my step!!!

Happy Thursday!!!

Awesome Sandi! I can relate to many of the things you said. I to am getting a lot of comments and compliments. At many times it can actually make me feel self conscious.. I hear people talk about weight & those who battle it. It is sad how people judge. I am the same person I was 83lbs ago. Just healthier & happier. It is crazy how people treat you differently just due to size...

Keep up the great work & rock your size 10 ;o)

Hi, I was sleeved 12/26 & I also had a stall for 3 weeks. I tried not to let it get me down. No way around it being frustrating & a bit scary...Kept up my program & listened to my body. 1 week I craved carbs like I have not experienced since surgery. I allowed my self a bit more, the following week total opposite Protein, protein & more protein. Happy to report at my weekly weigh in this morning I had movement again. 4.5 lbs down this week & ready to put the stall behind me. I am sure it may happen again, but all we can do is give it our all!

Congrats on your terrific progress & try not to get down. It will pass & your goal is getting ever closer ;o)

hi @@finally --- insane how our society really makes it tough to be a happy obese person but then again even without the ridicule it just isn't a healthy state of being. I was miserable eating dunkin donuts 2x a day along with those creamy full fat whipped top iced coffee drinks -- entemanns Louisiana crunch cake I would devour in 1-2 days bad bad bad -- greasy Chinese takeout ribs fried everything you name it ...muffins Cookies ice cream it wasn't good. It never made me feel good really just added to my misery with hopes of numbing the stress and low self worth

Happy wls has helped me keep this weight off and I hope it is lifelong!

Congrats to you and I'm definitely rocking my 10s these days! Can't believe I just typed that I'm wearing 10s! Wow

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
