Just got my surgery time. Tomorrow at 1:30 is show time. Down 30 pounds on 3-week pre op diet and ready to do this ... I think.

I saw on previous entries that both pre-op and post-op patients are having trouble finding a Protein Drink they like or can tolerate. I found nectar by Syntrax on line that I like very much. They have 23 grams of Protein and 25 calories in 8 ozs, and they are a thin drink ( like Skim milk) that are tart and very tasty. They also make a few flavors that are sweet. I really like their lemond-aid, Twisted cherry, very grape, and apple flavors. I still have a few flavors to try yet. What's nice is that they have a group of sample packs you can order for about twenty dollars. I think 10 different flavors come in the sample pack so you can try, then you can order your favorite in a bulk. I also found Chike on line. It's more of a Meal Replacement with high protein 28 grams per 8 ozs. Chike comes in 5 flavors, and banana and chocolate are my favorites so far. They have sample packs also. So look them up and see what you think. I just ordered more of both so I would have them after my surgery on 12-18-13. Hope the info helps.

So I bought a container of the Nectar from my surgeons office gives, I got the caribbean cooler flavor. OMG that stuff was a Hot MESS! It was so nasty to me. and the smell, I gagged everytime I put it up to my mouth.

I also thought Caribbean cooler was terrible. Way to sweet for me. I prefer the tart flavors also.

Well it seems like a long way off, then the next minute I think "What the Hell was I thinking.". Then I remember that change is good, and my life after will be so much better. I can honestly say the pro-op diet has kicked my butt. Lots of gas and diarrhea. LOL. I just taking this one day at a time. Glad to know others are along for the ride with me on the 18th though

I'm a December 3rd sleever and I probably could have easily went back to work today, but I took two weeks off and plan to use it. Although I feel great I do think I would be exhausted working all day at this point. Good luck to those going back to the grind this week!

I feel good enough to go back but I'm not..lol. Two of my employees called me earlier today to see if I was coming back early, I said no way..see ya next week. I'm taking two full weeks off because I've been working like a mad woman all year and I haven't had a real vacation since last January. I'll go back next Monday, or may pop on Sunday for a few hours to see how things are going and to clear my desk of anything just so I can walk in to peace and quiet Monday morning.,

If you're having trouble getting your protein in..try shifting to Protein Shots. Add to Water and a sugar free mix...I get in 42 grams of my required protein just by adding one to crystal light and water.

I feel like I could have gone back to work today but thankfully I took 3 weeks off. I have been working like crazy lately and I wanted to give myself plenty of time to heal ( and maybe get my Xmas shopping done...lol).

I'm a Dec 3 sleever so this is day 6 for me. Today has been the best day so far but I still have pain and doubt I could manage a whole day sitting up at work. I have to lay back to get the pressure off my sutures. So I worked from home. Side note IVE LOST 13 POUNDS in 6 DAYS!!! Dec 3 I was 230 today 217 :D

Hi all, a question for the pre-op dieters or this month's sleevers. Have any of you NOT lost any weight on pre-op, or lost very minimally? Going on day three here and gained two pounds even though I'm peeing like a race horse! I swear I could eat a sheet of drywall if it was put in front of me right now. Trying very hard to stick to the plan, this is a ton harder than I thought it would be

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
