Recommended Posts

Julie- I have no doubt that you can meet your new goal, by holiday season! I can't wait to hear how running goes....... without the "extra baggage". I am sure it will be another freeing moment, to be cherished and remembered!

I am looking forward to my first fill in mid May! I am aiming for -100# this coming year!! My band date is one week before my birthday.... so at my next birthday(36) I will be down 100# give or take!! (170# plus just seems high for myself)

You inspire so many of us newly banded ones!!!! Keep up the good work.... we need role models like you... so we can become role models to next years! And I'mmmm.....Looking forward to next pics you post!

Julie please throw us a bone. We are eager/beggers for updates from those who have gone before us! I am 33# down now, and am ready to save for my own PS. I can't imagine losing as much, as fast, as you have, but I'm willing to try!

You're totally right Mazie, I'm way overdue for an update!

OK, here goes. I'm 8 weeks post-op and I almost never thing about the surgery anymore. It's as if I never had a pannus and I feel 100% recovered. I have a little bit of numbness below my belly button, but I'm told that's probably permanent. It doesn't bother me at all, it's just a little bit of a different feeling from what was before.

At 6 weeks I was released to exercise and I slowly started running again. That was a weird experience. The weirdest thing was running and not being conscious of my stomach flapping. The downside is now I'm extremely aware of my things and butt being loose and I can't WAIT to have them taken care of this winter (probably over Christmas).

My breasts have settled into a 36C. As I get to goal, if they get any smaller, I'll probably have implants. For the moment, they're just right, but I wouldn't want them to be even a hair smaller.

The scarring is healing much better than I'd thought. As you'll see in the pictures, the chaffing marks from where my binder hit (well above the belly button) is much darker than the actual suture line. Those chaffing marks will go away completely -- they're just taking their own sweet time. I've always marked easily. For example, a regular bloodpressure cuff leaves a mark on me for about 3 months. Anyway, Dad is coming to NYC to visit weekend after next and he said if it hasn't started to flake off by then, he'll prescribe a bleaching cream to help it along.

OK, now the pictures. The first one is just a normal shot with the side of my underwear pulled down a little so you can see the scar. For the second one, I wanted you to be able to see the scar on the breast lift, so I just blurred out the nipple with Photoshop. I think the breast lift is just great. For the third shot, I wanted you to see that you can completely hide the scar with even the tiniest of underwear, so don't worry about that. Lastly, you asked for a side shot, so here you go. To me, it looks a little distorted. It's hard to take a self portrait from the side, so I'm kind of in "crunch" position, which makes it look like the stomach isn't perfectly flat, though it really is pretty darn flat. The awkward position also makes my breasts look proportionately larger than they are, since my arm is kind of acting like a push-up bra. Anyway, you can see in all of them that as good as a result is, stretch marks and overall skin quality aren't improved by this procedure, so most of us will never be swimsuit models. Anyway, I'm happy and looking forward to my legs matching my torso! Of course, I have 35 lbs to lose before then, so I'd better get busy on my part too....

Take care,

Julie

Wow! When you meet Alan, I just might make you "show and tell" so that he'll let me do it! (Just kidding - I think!). You look great. Would I love to wear itseybitsey undies like that (even at my grammy age)!

Only because you can't see my thighs. Boy do they take the wind out of my sails....

Thank you all for your kind words though. It's a work in progress.

Betty, you should have whatever you want done, done! Age isn't a factor for you. You are a smokin' granny who can wear any kind of underwear she wants! (See you in less than a week!)

Julie you look absolutely great. I can relate about the thighs though. I know once I get my Tummy Tuck and breast lift I'm going to be complaining about my inner thighs and bat wings. Can't wait to have mine done and I hope to have as great results as yours.

You look great.

SPEECHLESS AS USUAL, YOU LOOK GREAT! I am always shocked to see that you look so great! Must be all the running! How is it with no "luggage"/ pannus? Must feel like freedom!

Tiny panties.... that is my new long term goal!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I will give my daughter Mazie, my current panties, to make a fort/tent to play under!!! ha ha ha ha

My you experience as much success with the next PS! Will "Dad" be doing the next one?

WOWIE! Thank you for posting.

I had my first consult yesterday, so I'm getting excited. My PS said I wouldn't need implents with my lift and I'd end up with a B. I'm tall and wide. I want breasts like yours.... I want cleavage. I know you don't have implants, but you confirmed that I want them. Yea, I've got thigh issues too..... no easy answers there. I figure bigger boobs will distract from the thighs.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
