I understand how some of the newly banded people feel when their weight loss is not fast or as much as someone else's, however no matter what the loss or how it is done is a loss. If you lose inches it is a loss. If you lose 2 ounces it is a loss. The lap band does not come with the promise or guarantee that you will lose weight every day or even every single week. There are a lot of things to think about when losing weight. Are you sleeping at least 8 hours a night?, Are you drinking enough Water, are you moving your bowels regularly, are you keeping your salt intake low, are you stressed out. Weight fluctuations are bound to happen between 3 to 9lbs daily. You did not gain 100lbs in a week or maybe even in a year. It took time and so will losing it. Everyone is different and someone weighing 400lbs is going to lose weight faster then someone weighing 250. You can not base your weight loss to everyone else's. It took me three years to take off all of the weight I have lost but it took 10 years to put it on. You are not going to lose weight every week and especially every single day. Just keep doing what you are doing and in the end you will win.

Losing the addiction to food is appealing, shutting down the chattering monkey brain -- I'm looking forward to that.

AMEN!! It's so important that people remember that every.single.journey. is different. You can't compare yourself to anyone!! What works for someone else may not work for you! It's up to YOU to make the necessary changes, and adjustments to make your journey a successful one! Be proud of every single positive change, no matter how big or how small! Every ounce, every inch, every step you take towards your health counts!

So true! What works for me does not work for my Husband and I tell people this all the time. We were banded at the same time, we travel the road side by side. We even see the Dr. on the same dates and times in the same room for fills and updates BUT what works for him food wise and exercise wise and fill wise is not what works for me.

We have the same exact bands, made by the same company, but on each of us they work differently. I needed more Fluid in my band to feel the same satiety as he did. He has lost a bit more weight then I have, though oddly...I have more muscle then he does, so go figure....everyone is different and everyone's experience in their life and in their body is different. So I/we go with the flow, we practice with the band every day. Practice makes perfect and someday we will play Carnegie Hall, OK maybe not but at least we will be able to fit in the seats!! Now that is music to my ears!!!

(yeah I'm being corny today...I think I need a nap!)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
