Banded on Valentine's Day!

Recommended Posts

Hi! I'm Kelly and I'm newly banded as of Valentine's Day. I had my surgery right here in Champaign, IL and I'm doing okay so far.

Height: 5'3"

Starting weight: 228

Surgery weight: 212

Today's weight: 212

As you can see. Since surgery I have lost nothing. My band is empty until March 29th and I am starving all the time. I am doing my best to control my hunger with lots of Water so hopefully the scale will move soon!! Nice to meet everyone!

Congratulations on being a part of the lap band society. I was banded in Sept 06, but you are my first post. I have not taken the time to learn all the in and outs of posting, etc.

But glad to see the overwhelming responses of support out here.

Best of luck to you on your new journey.

I've read on lapband.com that some people don't lose during this period of time because you might not be restricted until you get a fill. this is a time for you to heal inside--don't get discouraged! I bet once you get your first fill you will start to see a significant weight loss!

Hi Kelly and congratulations on being banded! Try not to pay too much attention to the scale right now. Remember that you are healing. I am sure that your body is holding onto fluids as it is adjusting to the way you are eating or drinking. Hang in there! Gigi

It' sounds like you're doing great, you lost quite a lot before surgery. Let your body catch up. I'm sure you will lose a considerable amount. I haven't been banded yet, but it will be in April (I think). I go for all the pre-op stuff in the next two weeks. I'm really excited.

Don't think about losing weight, just think about following the plan and let the weight take care of itself. It will. 1 plus 1 is 2, so follow the plan and you will get results.

Blessings.:)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
