Got a fill 1 week ago and I think im too tight.. again. I'm throwing up everything i drink. And now im throwing up and nothings comes out because nothings left in there. It's hurting my throat. I heard drinking something warm can help loosen the band a bit. Is it normal to switch lap band doctors? My doctor is just too far to continue going to him. I know I need a unfill tho (●_●;)

In my opinion, it's best to stick with the doctor who did your surgery. Unless you are not getting the proper follow up care, if it were me, I'd suck it up and take the drive. The back & forth will minimize, once you are in the green zone.

My doctor isn't around the block from me, either. He's not hours away, but far enough where it takes a little chunk out of my day. I chose HIM to do my surgery, and knew up front what would be involved.

Here's my point of view on this. My first surgeon and his staff made me feel (self-pay) after my year I was just another customer in the line. Rushed thru the in-out and no real after-care. He was 1 hour from my home. I stopped going. Then I had a life-altering event happen: we moved from Sunny SW FL to rainy, dreary Green Mountains of Vermont. I was basically raised in SW FL - 38 years. I went into a depression, ate and drank (and shhh, smoked mary) to conquer the horrible living situation while the whole time I was honest with the doctors up there. They wouldn't offer me help - mentally, physically - nothing. Actually approved of the "mary" - go home and take the edge off its better than any prescription pill on the market. THUS - I ate, drank and RUINED my band. I'm not blaming anyone but myself b/c I let my body get the best of me. NOW TO THE POINT - I've switched doctors because I'm back in FLORIDA...yeah & love my new team. Doctor cares, teams actually holds a conversation with you and they want to help with resources. However, I ruined my band. It slipped. Now i'm up for conversion to the sleeve. Trying to get a handle on gaining weight which I'm climbing slowly but surely back to my starting weight. I recommend trying a different doctor especially if you don't feel the care is respectable. Best of luck to you!

If you're throwing up that much you need Fluid out ASAP. Excessive vomiting can slip your band. You swell your stomach when you throw up and the more you throw up the more you swell into you are in deep do-do. Warm liquids can help with swelling as well as liquid motrin/ibuprofen. However, once you're as tight as you sound the only option is some Fluid out. I can see holding off on getting a fill but you should never hold off on getting an unfill. One is about convenience, the other can ruin your band.

First things first...You need some saline out NOW, if you remove saline NOW before your band slips, then you probably will have time to search for a new surgeon that will fill your band properly.

Drinking hot liquid will help if you are stuck (sometimes) but cannot loosen the band, only an unfill can do that. Find someone to help you ASAP and then find a team that cares about you!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
