So happy to see the updates!!! It was too quiet on here for too long!!!

I'm 11 weeks out and down 45lbs… I had a stall for 2 weeks then dropped 1 lb a day for 5 days… I'll be doing bloodwork and have my next dr appointment the 1st week of january, it'll be interesting to see what my labs look like..

Eating has been getting easier and easier.. I've been eating a good variety of foods without issues.. And surprisingly, I don't miss the sweet stuff, which I couldn't get enough of before.. I haven't tried any of the sugary foods that I used to eat, I'm too afraid.. I've dumped on milk a few times due to the sugars..

Hope everyone does well with the holidays coming up!! Good luck to all!!!

I don't also miss the sweets, but I agree, I miss bread. Yesterday I made some toast, of which I am allowed, but I know my tummy will not tolerate it. So I made toast as I was saying, chewed it up and spat it out. Ok gross, I know, but I wanted the crunch so bad and I am so sick of all foods. At least it was satisfactory as I didn't have to vomit.

That's a good idea! U got the taste but then didn't have to deal with the bad part lol. I was told I could have whole grain bread and they said to toast it. Well that made it too dry and it got stuck so I haven't had bread since. When I could start eating regular foods I did have it on a ham and cheese sandwich, one ounce of course, and I was fine. So I can't eat toast!! Which is why I haven't tried a bagel. But man I'm craving one lol. And the fast food. Dang it!!! And I HATE the good commercials!!!!

I now know that I can eat a small candy without problems. Not sure if this is good or bad news.

I tried 1/2 of a kit kat the other day… Divine!!! Haven't had any sweets and haven't really been craving them, but I kinda wanted to see if anything would happen… I also tried some regular chips today, also delicious, but they made my pouch hurt, so I won't be eating them anytime soon again.. And considering I'm at around 900 calories a day, there area definitely better foods to be eating!!! lol...

Merry Christmas! I too have had some off plan items yesterday but I'm not going to feel guilty about it and neither should you! Each day is a new one with new choices to make. Last Chrismas, I indulged a lot and gained about 25 pounds between Nov and Feb. This year, I've had a little apple pie and a couple of small candies. It's a big difference and I'm thankful for my "tool" which helps me be satisfied with so little.

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you are having a wonderful holiday! We are so full of temptation this time of year, but the most important thing to remember (according to my theory of success ) is that it is ok to give into temptation. It is ok to have a piece if chocolate, candy, cake or whatever, as long as you enjoy it in moderation. Yes you want to succeed, but as all of our diets have shown us in the past, deprivation is a only going to make you fall off the wagon and regain.

Happy holidays and salutations, go ahead, enjoy living, life and all it has to bring. Hugs

Just found this site.... I had a Lap Band to RNY Gastric Bypass revision on October 28, 2013. So far I am down 34.6 pounds (that I know of... unfortunately, I do not have an accurate start weight). So far, other than the first few weeks, I am averaging a loss of about 3 pounds a week. The doctor said that with revisions, the loss tends to be slower than someone going straight to Gastric Bypass. For the past two weeks or so, I noticed I no longer feel like a recovering "patient" anymore. This is my new normal, I'm used to the new way of eating now. :) Anyone else on her had a revision to RNY?

Welcome fellow Oct! There are many revision folks on the site. UK-RNY also had a revision in October, if I remember correctly.

There are many factors that govern how quickly or slowly we will lose- gender, how much needed to lose, movement , etc. I didn't have a revision and have lost about 33 lbs post-op. That plus my pre- op loss of 30 lbs= 63 lbs gone forever!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
