December Surgeries!?!?!?

Recommended Posts

True. I am currently 304 and my goal for the diet is to be able to have surgery at UNDER 300lbs! It's just been in the last year I've hit 300. I've maintained at about 270 for years. Sadly I was comfortable at this weight so kinda glad I hit 300 and got me into where I am now. Sad but true. Thanks for caring and for the chat. Hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Amen! Here's to everyone having a healthy and happy Thanksgiving!

I've been cheating.... well I felt like I had but when I logged my meals into the myfitnesspal app on my phone I still manage to be under the 1200 calorie limit during my 4wk diet.

Due to nausea I am allowed 2 meals and 2 shakes a day. I usually do the healthy choice steamers but strayed a little while dinning out. Today is gonna be hard with all the family and foods around.... Mac & cheese and candied yams are my favorites!

There's a good book called "The Beck Diet Solution" which I recommend to everyone. It's CBT for weight loss. One of the principles is to give yourself credit. The author recommends even posting stickers around your home and work with just one word, "CREDIT", to remind you. For example, you're using myfitnesspal AND you're under your calorie limit! I hope this helps!

Ladies! I am on my three week HIGH PROTIEN, LOW CARB diet (pre-surgery).

I am one week in, tomorrow.

I have lost 6 pounds....I was lower yesterday than today, for a one pound gain.

I am pretty plugged up. Just had a small BM tonight, for the first time in three days.

I am eating tons of meat, cheddar cheese, broccoli and kale and suger free Jello and fat free whipped cream.

I have not had any crackers, Cereal, bread, fruit, grains etc...........I am following this three week prep to a T, as described by my doctor and nutirion gals. I have read up and know now all about KETOSIS. Talk about a rough day two and day three. I am over that........I feel really cleansed (body wise, not in the bowels though). I am pounding the Water, more than ever and I am consuming 120-160 oz each day!!!!!! Yes, that much water! I know that this is Fiber that I need. I am having a hard time getting it in when I am so limited on other things that I would normally eat that are high in fiber. I am also missing my NATURAL fruits so much! I am not allowed ANY fresh fruit at all during this three weeks. I am not to exceed 20 grams of carbs a day. I am keeping with it those guidelines, and I feel like I should be getting more bang for my buck...if you know what I mean. So, I am glad I FEEL great and not really hungry inbetween my high protien meals and such....but my tummy is bloated and I am not losing weight as fast I thought I would. Perhaps my body is still just adjusting to this NEW LOW CARB deal? Is my body in shock? I think so! Normally I would enjoy breads, crackers, chips, popcorn, sweets etc........no doubt, I am well aware of how I got to the weight I am! Feed back would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Sorry to hear about your pain in the rear. U-no-it is right about fiber fiber and water water. There are a lot of sugar free fiber supplements out there. At the risk of being gross, I use the sugar free psyllium husk ones when my pain in the rear happens. I use zinc oxide ointment when the tissues are tender. Oh and speaking as one, there are guys on this forum! Bariatric surgery isn't just a lady thing! ;-)

Good morning! Thank you for your feedback. First of all, I appologize for address my post to Ladies...l know better...of course there are men on this site. Sorry! Happy Thanksgiving is also the other important thing for the morning! Now, onto weightloss biz.............I am consuming SO MUCH WATER! Do you or anyone think that drinking SOBE and/or Vitamin waters (all zero calorie) are slowing me down? Wondering if any of the ingredients could be doing me some harm? They say NO ARTIFICIAL SWEETNERS and that is the one thing I was worried about. I just started FLAX OIL softgels this morning. Maybe that will help. I woke up, and did my daily morning nakid weigh in (same time of day, each day)....sitting at 295! No loss, no loss, no loss........again in two days! I am very frustrated. I just told me family that if I eat candy and crap all day, I lose weight....but if I do it the correct way (meats/veggies/low carb/lots of water),....I don't lose at all!!! What is wrong with that picture? I have decided that I am bringing my own GREENS to the family gathering today. My own ZERO CARB dressing too. I will eat my pickles (allowed with in my three week high protien/low carb diet).....I will grub on TURKEY and my own greens. I vow to NOT eat any stuffing, potatoes (mashed or sweet) and no pie! I am bringing my own Sugar free jello with 1 carb and fat free whipped cream. That is it. I have to keep on this and even if the scale doesn't move, I can say honestly I did all the right things. ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS OUT THERE FOLKS? I need help!!!

Happy Gobble Gobble Gobble!!!

Sometimes the best thing to do, even on this holiday, is to call the on-call doc or nurse. After all you're paying for their help! ;-)

Hello....it's Thanksgiving evening, almost 7 PM in the Seattle area.

How did everyone do on this day? Those that are prepping for upcoming surgies, did you get thru your day okay? Did you over eat and feel miserable now? Tomorrow is a new day, regardless.

I did good. I packed a salad ahead of time, I took it with all of my approved pre-diet prep foods and I added turkey and that was that. While others pigged out on pies........I had my Sugarfree Jello and whipping cream. I am proud. I am soooooooooooooooooooo hoping the scale is happy with me tomorrow. I have been doing every correct and I am NOT LOSING! I am 18 days before surgery.........and I keep this same high protien, low carb diet in place until the day before surgery, then I will switch to Clear Liquids all day, along with one bottle of Mag citrate....(yuk).

Welcome to the site, I start my preop diet tomorrow and I have been having food funerals since I found out I was approved. My surgery is Dec 9th. In fact, I was waiting for a long drawn out battle with my insurance company and they approved me in 1 day. I was shocked and it was way to soon. I wanted to fight the insurance company to release my anxiety over the surgery. Good luck to you and let me know if you have found any good tasting Protein Drinks

That is a very good day for your surgery. It is my b-day and the day I good for my medical clearance. Good luck and I will keep good thoughts for you.

Why are some people on this "liquid" duet also having 4oz of turkey?

The paperwork I have gives general instructions: the pre-op diet is comprised primarily of Liquid Protein shakes/drinks . . .there may be some solid food incorporated as well. Ultimately it's what the dietician discussed in detail with us.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
