December Surgeries!?!?!?

Recommended Posts

Yayy we have the same day. I did 90% of my pre op tests today. Just have an Endoscopy left and I'm good to go! :-)

I've not started the pre-op tests yet. I have the EGD and Colonoscopy (bc I'm over 50), schedule for this coming Friday, the 22nd and all other pre-op tests Monday the 25th. My center requires an all day education class and I attend that on Tuesday the 26th. Are you nervous? When do you start the pre-op liquid diet? I'm thinking my center will tell me Wednesday the 27th, so no Thanksgiving feast for me, ha!

Hi, I am new to this site. I just joined today. I am through my 6 month medically supervised diet and all testing. It took longer than expected because my sleep study showed apnea and I needed to be on the cpap machine for a month before the doctor would clear me. Now that I got that out of the way I am on track for everything to be submitted for final approval to my insurance on November 22. Fingers crossed surgery will be December 11. I am pretty psyched and pretty scared/nervous at the same time. I'm 43 (actually 11/22 is my Birthday). I am so looking forward to a completely new lifestyle but I will admit it is a little intimidating too.

Hello. I will call you Hopeful4change, as I don't know your actual first name. My name is Kari Jo. I am from WA State, North of Seattle area. And you? I too am rather new on this site. Just got my surgery date of December 17th. I am very excited! I had to go thru a zillion extra clearance things too, including sleep apnea, like you. Happy birthday later this week to you!

Hello all! I've been on this site from time to time during my six month diet. I finished all that and finally got a surgery date of December 11th and am cramming all my pre-op stuff in within the next couple of weeks. That's stressful. Other than that, I'm stoked. Scared and anxious but excited. Can't wait to use this forum a lot more to get to know you guys and go through this process together. My surgeon doesn't have any pre surgery diets fortunately so I plan to eat at Thanksgiving like there is no tomorrow and sit around at Christmas hating everyone stuffing their faces, lol. I ordered all my Vitamins last night along with some Protein. My wallet is crying! Thanks for listening and I look forward to getting to know you guys!

Best wishes on your surgery.

My name is Mary. I am from Brooklyn NY. I started the whole process in April of 2013 but there have been quite a few stumbling blocks but I am so happy to be able to move forward now. I see my surgeon this Thursday, to set the surgery date for once and for all. I think he was aiming for 12/11 so we'll see.

Welcome to the site, I start my preop diet tomorrow and I have been having food funerals since I found out I was approved. My surgery is Dec 9th. In fact, I was waiting for a long drawn out battle with my insurance company and they approved me in 1 day. I was shocked and it was way to soon. I wanted to fight the insurance company to release my anxiety over the surgery. Good luck to you and let me know if you have found any good tasting Protein Drinks

Syntar nectar protein is pretty good. I just received my order today and tried 2 of the packets and they don't taste too bad (compared to the protein mix at Walmart)

Hey everyone! Wanted to check in and see how everyone's progress is going! I had the first half of my psych evaluation last week. Second half next week but he said thus far he sees no issues. But I will do that during October. This month is packed! Talked to my surgeons office yesterday and he said surgery 12/11 or 12/18! Its starting to feel real finally! Keep me posted! How are things with yall??

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
