Any October surgeries out there...

Recommended Posts

Hope that everyone that started on the liquid diet is doing good. I heard that the first three days are the worst. Time sure is going slow while waiting for insurance. Anyone have any troubles with the stress test?

This is the end of my 3rd day...this a.m. I was down 4 lbs. I wasn't required to have a stress. Don't sweat it...you will do great.

They have for me. No Fiber to move things along' date=' if you get my drift. :-)[/quote']

I was told prior to surgery by my dietician to stop all "supplements" and fiber supplements before surgery. This is mostly important for fiber and Omega 3/6/9 as they increase the risk I bleeding during surgery.

Good to know. Whether I'm backed up or not now, I know that I won't be backed up Tues after the bowel prep. Maybe I'll stop adding fiber until then.

Its not too shabby I am on my first day too but feel like this gets old really quick ya know?

I've tried to change it up by adding sf syrups. It makes me feel like I've got more choices.

In the coffee isle at my local big grocery store and on Amazon. Look for Torani and DaVinci brands.

What's the stress test? I'm about a week away from scheduling surgery date but haven't heard about a stress test

Its a cardiac test to ensure your heart is fit enough to withstand the surgery. There is one using a drug called thallium and one where you get on a treadmill. My Dr didn't req one.

Less than 48 hours until surgery and I am starting to get more nervous but also excited. Clear liquid diet starts today.....no solids at all. I was worried about these 2 days but with all the excitement in my head, I think I will be okay. Still can't wrap my brain around the fact that very soon, I will be much smaller. Haven't seen a smaller me in years. *fighting tears*. Best of luck to everyone!!! You guys have helped me tremendously.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
