A very ironic NSV

Recommended Posts

Well, I went in for a CAT scan tonight to try to find out about this horrible pain I've been having in my port area. I'm one year banded and have lost 80 pounds. While I was in the dressing room, I put on that little hospital robe and for the first time in my adult life, IT WRAPPED ALL THE WAY AROUND MY BODY!!!

How ironic is that???

I just had to laugh, here I am exactly one year and one day post banding, and having major band pain and possible complications, but yet what an NSV!

LOL! At least at made me feel a tiny bit better!

Hey Sunta - awesome nsv - please keep us posted on how you are doing - I'm about 15 months out and have started occassionally having some pain in the port - a few times it felt extra hard and seemed to be sticking out more - a few times it was kinda burning...thinking it is passing thing but of course wondering too - It's certainly not from my losing weight - ha whereas I see you've lost quite a bit (congrats) - maybe it is closer to the surface on you now? Who knows - just hoping all is ok with you.

Sunta, what's going on with your band? Is everything OK?

Hi, thanks for asking. I'm still awaiting the results of my CAT scan. I believe it's either a hernia or some form of IBS, but that is just from my own research. My symptoms are a severe pain on the left side of my port. It's a pinching/spasming pain that feels like it's in the muscles and nerves. It comes and goes though and sometimes it doesn't hurt at all. It's more like an "attack" I'll get from time to time, but at those times it's very very bad. It could also be something with the port tubing, but again I'm waiting to hear from my doc. I'll post when I do find out what it is.

Hugs, Sunta!

Glad to hear you could find some light while waiting for the scan.

Hope you get some pain relief soon.

Well, if it's a hernia, that could be good news since hernias can be fixed, sometimes fairly easily. IBS can be a little trickier to treat, though. I was hoping you would have had your results by now. I'm sure you were, too. Keep us posted. We're all hoping for the best for you.

Could it be your gall bladder?

I have heard descriptions like yours from people who - after multiple mis-diagnoses - discovered they had gall stones.... those little things can be horrid!

Good Luck... let us know what your doc finds out.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
