First week water and protein.

I'm having problems getting all my water and protein it's day 4 for me after my surgery and only my second night home but I am finding it very hard to take in all my protein and water. I am peeing very little and it's super dark so I'm guessing dehydrated. Any tips??? Thanks.

Use 2oz cups it makes it a lot easier to get your liquids down ... It took me like 2 weeks before I was able to get the 80grams of protein a day... Hang in there it gets easier the 1st 3 months are rough I'm not going to lie to you

Go get kids sippy cups. They are small and help keep track of your liquids. When you finish one you feel like you really accomplished something. Also set a timer for every 5-10 min to remind you to sip. My doc said he was most concerned with water at this stage. You don't want to get dehydrated.

I know its hard to drink water, but you have too! I'm only 3 weeks post op and I've be hospitalized twice for dehydrated!!

Jeez. What are you eating cause I'm 6 weeks out and barely get in my minimum of 60. I am trying to only eat 3 times a day cause that's what my doc said to do.

Wow. I am so glad I joined this forum. I'm 5 days post op and feeling the same way about not getting enough fluids and protein in. Great tip to use the little 2 oz cups!

I'm two years out now but the first week is the hardest. I was so scared I was not going to make it. but it gets easier as you go. my Dr told me to try to get it in throughout the day if I couldn't do it at meal time. it helped. maybe try that way. good luck.

Thank you everyone you all have been so great. I've been having a lot of trouble with gas build up to the point if its crippling. We are going to try and take milk out of my diet while making my protein.

My Doctor wanted me to drink water, so yes use smaller cups, for the gas walk a lot and ask your doctor can you use gas X...congrats and good luck to you:)

I'm a year out now , I still stay away from red meat because the heavy feeling it gives my stomach.... But when I was six weeks I eat tilapia for lunch and dinner for Protein and a Protein Drink in between

This is the protein drink

I have found a Protein drink called Isopure.40 grams of protein. It counts toward s you liquid in take. Comes in 8 flavors. I get mine at Hi Health. Try soy Protein powder 28 grams og protein in 1 oz. Mix in your Soups and puddings in has no flavor. I am 2 weeks out .
