So I'm still in the liquid phase. Only allowed protein shakes and clear liquids. My goal is 2 oz protein every hour and 4 to 6 oz of hydration liquid every hour. Hydration is not a problem but I really hate the protein. That goal of 50 grams of protein seems impossible sometimes.

Yesterday and today I've been experimenting with adding protein powder to the premix shakes to increase the protein content. Then I measure it out in little shot glasses and stick them in the freezer. Easier to tolerate as ice cream and the protein content is so high it only soft freezes. I also eat it with a baby spoon so I don't eat it too fast.

Doing it this way I can cram up to 6 grams of protein into a 2 oz shot. Then I just stagger the hours I eat the protein. On the off hours I get in 6 oz of clear liquids easy and on the hour I take the protein I get in the 4 oz of clear liquids in addition to the protein shot. I got in a total of 49 grams yesterday and 55 grams today! I feel good and my energy level is picking up

Just thought I would share, maybe this will help someone else who is struggling to get the protein in.

Feeling so sick. Got in two 25 minute walks but less than one protein shake. Still burping the taste of soup I ate early yesterday. I am miserable. I also got sick after eating 1/3 a cup of a different soup today but no food actually came up. Any suggestions? Does it sound like I am blocked?

This kinda sucks... Only 6 days post op.

Call your doctor!. .. I learned the hard way

Yea def call your Dr, from what mine made it seem like 1/3 c for 6 days post op is too much. I'm still on clear liquids and protein shakes, when I take my shakes its half of a reg sized coffee mug. Maybe like 1/4c.

I've been walking three times a week I know I need to do more but this is all I can do right now three weeks until surgery.

Lasha! Awesome job getting it done, Distance will come as you walk consistently , don't push it give your body time to heal . Way psyched for you .

I was sent home with these requirements:

2 - 8 oz protein shakes per day

32 oz clear liquids

3 - 1/4-1/2c meals a day of pudding, yogurt, or blenderized "chunky" soup

It is a lot. I haven't managed to get all of it in any day yet. I get the protein all in some days, or I get the liquids... But never all 3 meals yet. And I am SO SO tired of protein shakes. Whoever thought drinking them for 5 weeks straight 2-3 times a day should be water-boarded....

Sorry to hear that, when did you have surgery? I hope it work out for you.

HI all I am new to this so bear with me. I had my surgery on the 24th June and I am doing well, I am afraid to start eating any foods besides drinking the protein shakes in order to get the high amount of protein needed after surgery. Is there any protein that you can add to water so that I could get my protein in with my water intake.
